  My hotel choice for my one night stays in the Newport area is usually determined by price, so my expectations are never too high. I was pleasently surprised by this hotel - from the professional, fast and friendly check in experience (have never had anyone ask my floor preference before), to the large, clean room, comfortable beds and great included breakfast. Would definitely recommend and will be staying here again.

  My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Middletown, Rhode Island! From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming, friendly, and professional. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and a great place to relax after a day of exploring Newport. A special shout-out to Tracey, who went above and beyond with her professionalism and kindness. We witnessed her handling a very disgruntled guest, and she handled the situation with incredible patience, calmness, and grace. Even when faced with a difficult interaction, she remained respectful, professional, and genuinely committed to helping. That kind of customer service really stands out! We also want to recognize the gentleman working alongside her, (we can not remember his name and wish we did) he was friendly, helpful, and just as welcoming. It was clear that they both take pride in making guests feel comfortable and cared for. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. Great hotel, great location, and most importantly, wonderful staff! Tracy and her team are a true asset to this hotel. Highly recommend! We are looking forward to our next stay!

  Due to an unexpected issue, I had to adjust my original reservation to include a Friday night. Upon checking out, I was shocked to discover that Friday night alone was billed at nearly $600 - double the baseline rate of approximately $300 for the other nights. Had the system transparently displayed this difference during the online modification process, I absolutely would not have confirmed the change. I would have instead opted to shorten my stay or cancel the booking entirely. The condition of the premises certainly did not justify a premium price point - there was peeling paint, the carpet was so filthy it permanently stained our socks dark gray, and the complimentary lotion provided was rancid. I emailed to request that a supervisor review this but never heard back. Unfortunately the above experiences overshadowed the positives - a good location (though the road is lined with hotels so there are many choices nearby), and pleasant and helpful staff. Wouldn't stay again or recommend.

  The rooms are very clean and nice enough, but a little smaller and I would prefer to have more seating and a walk-in shower. The beds were very comfortable and the up-to-date luggage area is very nice. The location of this hotel was extremely convenient for being near the Naval Station. The staff was all very friendly and helpful. The public areas were not great. The lobby, breakfast room, pool, and fitness room were all quite small, which had us skip all of them because they were too crowded and not comfortable for us to use. The carpet and walls in the public areas, as well as the elevator, were quite beat up and dated. This hotel is also extremely expensive for what you're getting, but that's true of everything in the Newport area. I would normally pay less than $150 a night for a hotel room like this, and this stay cost us over $400 a night.

  The hotel is a little worn, but the location is a quick uber ride to the wharfs and shopping. The staff is great and I appreciated that there was always iced lemon water available in the lobby. This hotel offers a free breakfast and parking, which is fantastic for such a busy city!
