Its pretty funny how IHG asks for a review of this hotel but doesn’t post them if they are not great reviews. Truly the only positive of this hotel is the location. I checked in early and was greeted with disdain from the front desk employee cause she was on the phone with USPS. I only know because it was on speakerphone via cell phone. I waited patiently and the attitude came because I was there around 2pm and asked to check in early. So I was provided a room and that room was pretty beat up. The faucet in the bathroom did not work. I told them about it and asked to have it fixed and nope nothing… Breakfast was pretty rough. No attendant, empty items and hard pastries. Then the “fitness center” was just a hard no. Its just sad that these franchisees could care less and just continue to disregard the properties. Just hope you see this before booking there.

★☆☆☆☆ (Negative 5 Stars) I was placed at this hotel by my insurance company and was originally booked for a one-month stay. However, I was required to leave after only three days. During my stay, several advertised amenities were unavailable. The swimming pool had reportedly been closed for an extended period, and no employee could provide an anticipated repair date. The lobby computer was also out of service, creating a significant inconvenience because I needed access to review and print important documents. In addition, my room door lock had a recurring problem. On multiple occasions, my key card would not unlock the door, and a front desk receptionist advised me that my particular room had an ongoing issue with the lock not consistently recognizing room keys. I also received conflicting information regarding hotel policies. At check-in, I specifically asked whether smoking was permitted. I was told by a front desk employee that I could smoke outside while seated at the outdoor tables and that I could also smoke outside near the entrance, although I should be mindful of other guests. I was never informed that the hotel maintained a strict no-smoking policy. Later, I learned that complaints regarding my smoking in locations where I had been told smoking was permitted were among the reasons cited for requiring me to leave. My primary concern, however, involved my interaction with hotel management. I was informed that I was being required to leave the hotel based upon complaints from multiple employees. When I asked for specifics, I was told that employees had allegedly observed me participating in a drug transaction in the parking lot the night before. I categorically denied that allegation and immediately requested that surveillance footage be reviewed because I maintain that no such event ever occurred. During that same conversation, the manager stated, “This is why I don’t like long-term guests.” The statement was made in the context of the allegation that employees had supposedly observed a drug transaction on the property. As someone who had been placed at the hotel for a long-term insurance stay, I found that comment concerning and inappropriate. After being told that employees had allegedly observed a drug transaction and hearing the manager express her dislike of long-term guests, I became uncomfortable remaining at the property. If management truly believed such activity was occurring on-site, I certainly had no interest in remaining there. Rather than reviewing any surveillance footage with me or discussing the matter privately, I was instructed to leave the property or the police would be called. After relocating to another hotel, I was informed that the manager had contacted my lodging vendor and reported that I intended to return to the property. I never made such a statement. What I actually said was that I intended to file a complaint with Holiday Inn corporate regarding my treatment. Because of the seriousness of the allegations made against me, I immediately requested preservation of all relevant evidence, including surveillance footage, incident reports, emails, notes, and communications relating to my stay. As a retired physician who practiced Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology for nearly three decades and who has also served as a medical expert consultant in legal matters, I take my reputation very seriously. Being publicly accused of involvement in criminal activity was deeply upsetting and, in my view, entirely unwarranted. Based on my experience, I found this property to be poorly managed and the handling of this situation to be highly unprofessional. Readers can draw their own conclusions based upon the facts described above. I stand by my account of what occurred and would not choose to stay at this property again. Dors not seem like a family , kid friendly place if premises may be unsafe if multiple employees say a drug deal going down. Kifs and family would be upset thst pool is out of order with no anticipation of repair date.i would be concerned about criminals

We stayed for the week but did not stay on a weekend so it was pretty quiet. The area around is very convenient. There are fast food restaurants, sit-down restaurants, Home Depot, Walmart, and more all within a minute of driving. Our room had amazingly high ceilings. Couple that with our super comfortable beds and it felt really luxurious. We also used the mini fridge and microwave daily. I really liked having the freshly ground coffee and tea machine available 24/7. When we ate breakfast during the week, quantity was never an issue as there was never more than 10 people at a time eating with us. For the constructive feedback...It doesn't feel like this hotel is striving for 100%. It feels like they are striving for 80% and landing somewhere between 75% - 85% on any given day. Everything that they have going for them, never seems to work out completely. For instance, having a pool that cannot be used due to maintenance, during summer, is a big let down. No problem, let's use the fitness area. There are like 4 random weights in there, and 4 machines where 1 is out of order. It also doesn't look like it's been cleaned in ages and is a generally overlooked area. They put in ready made waffles during some days because their waffle machine is out of order. 1 of the 2 coffee machines is out of order (not an issue during our stay because there wasn't a lot of guests but having 1 machine with 20 people waiting in line at breakfast could be a challenge). We had a room with a tub but the tub was in poor condition and we didn't feel like we could use it. The computer in the lobby had a sign that said it was out of order. The wifi worked 4 out of 5 days we were there. Overall, it felt like everything was just shy of reaching 4 stars so it seems their Google rating is quite accurate.

The reason for 1 star is not because of the rooms, staff or breakfast. They were all fine. Until 1:00am. The fire alarm went off. Confusion reigned. No staff to give instructions, emergency exits on the floors are confusing (stairs.locations are not clearly marked) so people could not find the stairs. Guests were asking for instructions from the 2nd floor balcony overlooking the lobby. No one from the hotel was there. Two guys playing with the fire alarm to turn it off is all we saw. If this had been a real fire most of the guests would have.been trapped in their room or in the hallways. Return to the room to help my wife evacuate and the alarm goes off I go to call the front desk and there is no phone in the room. This hotel is a disaster waiting to happen. Unless they train thier staff, clearly mark escape routes and take fire safety and this incident seriously this not the place to stay. Again this is not a negative review for the overnight staff it is a negative review for senior management of Holiday Inn and the General Manager of this location.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Coventry, Rhode Island from June 20 to June 21, 2026 and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the problems started piling up. When we walked into our room, the bed still had dirty, stained sheets on it. We had to immediately call housekeeping to get fresh linens because it was completely unacceptable. The bathroom faucet didn’t work correctly either — it would barely turn on and the water pressure was nonexistent, making even basic tasks like brushing your teeth frustrating. To make matters worse, the TV didn’t work at all. No channels would load and apps could not be logged into. The pool was under construction and unavailable. After dealing with all of these issues, we were shocked to see an incorrect charge on our card post check out for missing towels. No towels were removed from the room and all towels were left in the bathroom. This is a blatant attempt to nickel-and-dime us after providing such poor service. Save your money and stay somewhere else. This Holiday Inn Coventry is not worth it.
