  Wanted to do 2 things at this hotel: work out, and watch the USA World Cup game. As far as working out: the elliptical machine was broken, the exercise bike was in disrepair. Both were old and cheap and were visibly corroding. As far as the World Cup: the picture alternately looked like one of the attached photos. I called the front desk to see if there was a solution - they said due to the clouds in the sky, there was nothing they could do 😅. As a Platinum IHG member, I asked at check-in if there were upgrades available. They told me they were sold out. Standard and upgraded rooms were both available for booking in the IHG app at check-in, so the messaging seemed to be: we don’t do upgrades for IHG elite members here but instead of saying that we just tell you we are sold out.

  I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express locations and usually have great experiences, but this specific West Mifflin location was an absolute nightmare. We booked a 4-day stay and left completely disappointed and disgusted. Our first room had a ceiling leak so severe that the bathroom garbage can was actively filling up with water. We were moved to a second room, which turned out to be incredibly filthy: The Headboard: The headboard on the bed was visibly greasy and uncleaned. Hidden Trash & Debris: Because I use a CPAP machine for medical reasons, I have to plug it directly into a wall outlet rather than a lamp socket. When we slightly moved the TV stand for the Roku and the dresser to access the wall plugs for the CPAP, we uncovered an absolute biohazard. Trash, hair ties, food bits, and an empty pie box that was clearly dated two months prior. There was this brown liquid spill running down that wall as well. When I brought the video and photos to the front desk at my early checkout, the desk agent, Nicole, was incredibly hostile and disrespectful. Instead of apologizing, she told me she "already knew" about the leaking ceiling and the trash behind the furniture. She then defensively argued that when she goes on vacation, she never moves furniture, implying that the filth was our fault for discovering it. She raised her voice at me to the point where I had to ask her why she was yelling at a guest. To be told that a room is only clean if you don't look behind the furniture is unacceptable. This place is poorly maintained, the rooms are not being deep-cleaned between guests, and the management/staff front line is combative. I will never stay at this location again. Save your money and book elsewhere.
