Was here for a night , very welcoming and clean , room was nice , got a free gift bag since I am a member. The one amazing lady who was setting the breakfast even gave me a surprising compliment on my scent , really made my day, thanks to her!. I even spent some good time in the gym they provided which was nice, including the pool as well. Overall , it was an amazing experience at this location and I’ll definitely be back soon! <3

Everything is fine but the main concern is they don’t provide complimentary water bottle for day most of hotels provide 2 water bottles for a day

Edit: had to knock off one star. The shower never got up to be hot, beyond lukewarm, and this is one noisy building. You can hear your neighbours below, the trucks outside, everything. End edit. Pretty worn out and grubby to be honest. My room has one burned-out light and a crack in the ceiling that's been patched pretty badly, not painted over. On the other hand it looks like the smoke detector has been painted over. The air conditioner had the cover half off and the wall thermostat doesn't work. The place is really run down. Under the desk there's a light that looks like it's broken and fallen off. Also they've really cheaped out on certain amenities. Usually you expect individually wrapped paper cups so that they're sanitary. These ones they've taken three paper cups out of a pack and put them in a plastic sleeve by hand. The sleeve itself isn't sealed so you can't really be sure they're clean. The staff is pleasant enough but the whole experience is not what I'm used to at Holiday Inn Express in Canada, that's for sure. Also the bedding, for my peace of mind I'm choosing to believe that it's clean but it's a bit of a question to be honest. Not sure what this little guy was but I didn't find any more of them and maybe, just maybe, it came off of my clothes but I don't think so. I booked two rooms but because only one of us had the free IHG membership, we could only have one welcome bag, which is a whopping two bottles of water and a micro bag of chips. All in all not very impressed.
Overall, my stay was pretty lackluster. When I arrived, I had to wait about 30 minutes for my room to be ready, which wasn't a great start.
The room itself was clean, but there was a noticeable hint of a musty smell that made it feel less comfortable.
The biggest positive was the location, as it was convenient and close to downtown.
Unfortunately, between the service, the wait for the room, and the musty smell, I don't think I would stay here again.
Extremely Disappointing Stay Due to Safety Concerns and Poor Customer Service
My family of five stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Stroudsburg from July 2–5 2026, and unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had.
From the moment we arrived, there were problems. Our room keys repeatedly failed to work, causing unnecessary frustration after a long drive. Once we finally got into our room, we discovered there were only four tissues left in the tissue box, making it seem as though basic room checks had not been completed before our arrival.
The most concerning issue happened around 10:15 p.m. on our first night. Another family was able to open our room door with their key while we were inside the room. This was a serious safety and security concern that left my family shaken. No guest should ever have to worry about strangers being able to access their hotel room. We immediately reported the incident, but despite the seriousness of what occurred, management did not proactively reach out to us to apologize, explain what happened, or reassure us that the issue had been investigated.
Additional issues continued throughout our stay. The pool heater was not working, which was disappointing for our children who were looking forward to swimming. We also noticed a metal piece falling from the ceiling, raising further concerns about the hotel's maintenance and upkeep.
While some front desk employees were courteous and documented our concerns, the overall response from management was extremely disappointing. We expected the General Manager to contact us promptly after such a significant security incident, but that never happened during our stay. Even after checking out, communication was delayed and lacked the urgency that a situation involving guest safety deserved.
What was most frustrating wasn't just the number of issues we experienced—it was the apparent lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. A sincere apology, timely communication, and meaningful effort to make things right would have gone a long way.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe future guests should be aware of our experience. I sincerely hope the hotel reviews its safety procedures, improves room inspections, and places a much higher priority on guest communication and customer service. Until then, I cannot recommend staying here.
