Very decent Holiday Inn Express that is conveniently located. Rooms are in fine condition, although much of the hotel is very dated and somewhat beat-up. Breakfast is great and is included with your stay.

Nice location for staying for events in Pittsburgh, generally quiet and good breakfast. I took two stars off because, 2 things - one, I did not appreciate when I called to let the front desk know that I would be checking in later on the day of our arrival, and I was pressured to sign up and listen to vacation package pitches and rental car options. I literally had to cut off the receptionist because they did not ask me, just told me, 'okay I'm going to connect you to Hertz to hear your options' like NO, I am a guest at your hotel that I'm paying to stay at, don't pressure people to do this stuff, shame on IHG for making their employees be annoying salespeople. Also, there was definitely dried blood on our shower curtain.

Upon check in setting in our rooms our door opens a man walks in and says im here to change your toilet handle. No knock nothing..very uncomfortable what if we were changing or in the shower. On our way out for the day swung by front desk to inform them of this and he says unfortunately this happens alot because a work order goes in and they are busy so we book the room out and they have no idea it's occupied..maybe better communication and possibly a knock and identify yourself? Then the breakfast area. There has always be a older lady that has ran this she is not here and they now have 2 girls. One stands on her phone in doorway while the other one in a crop top and sweatpants walks around. This is normally my go to hotel while in pittsburgh but something has changed it's dirty outside. Nobody at front desk sign says stepped away leave key here.

The rooms were good, and the breakfast was actually very good. The overall behavior of the stuff was also quite good. However, one of the things that I judge hotels on is based on whether they can quickly and promptly address maintenance issues which are critical to the stay, security and comfort of the guests. In our case, the door of the room is which we were staying in never closed. We had to keep it open all the time, even when we went outside for sightseeing, as well as at night. We could hear all the sounds from the lobby. We complain twice, one time. They say that their maintenance person was addressing some swimming pool and elevator issues and won't come until it is quite late. Later they came, and they were not able to fix it. We had to be content with a broken main door throughout our stay. It never closed. I think that this is very basic security issue, that they failed to address and caused us quite a bit of discomfort. For that reason, I give them two stars.

I had business in Pittsburgh for a new job, the hotel was only 5 minutes from the location which was great, the hotel itself is an entirely different situation. When I made it to the the only elevator that "worked" on the floor was a giant pile of spaghetti vomit, I get that things happen, I told the lady at the front desk and she told me it would take a while for someone to clean it because she was the only one working. Fine. So I used the stairs that reeked of cigarettes. I get to my room where I have to physically throw my body to push open the door. Then I was unpacking and trying to get ready for bed, went to put my food and drinks into the mini fridge to find it not on and warm and musty, after searching how to turn it on, I found old food behind the armoire, had to pull the whole fridge out of the built-in cabinets to find the on dial. With echoing doors, a fan that doesn't stay on and an extra firm mattress, my first night wasn't restful to say the least. Night 2 was even worse. From 10:30 to almost 4 a.m there was fighting/ screaming, doors slamming, people yelling and running down the halls and knocking on doors as loud as possible. It was unbelievably miserable. I thought to call down to the front desk as if anything could be done, but it was just one elderly woman who and I quote has a "bad back and a sore knee" I didn't seem worth bothering her. I got about 9 hours of sleep all weekend, and if it wasn't an expensive hotel I would have expected it to be what it was, but it was over $355 for both nights.
