To start with, this Holiday Inn needs to hire better cleaners. The rooms were renovated probably in the past few years but they are dirty. From the time of taking an elevator up, it was obvious the elevator floor had not been vacumned in days, till you got to your room where things were worse. Bedside tables and counters were not wiped. They had spots on them. First thing I had to do was to wipe all the surfaces in the room. The glass shower door had droplets on the inside glass as if the previous occupant showered and vacated as we entered. There was black mold in one corner of the shower as well as where the 2 doors come together. It was very obvious. The tv channels available were predominately sports and religious. Travelers need weather and news which I could not find. Thirsty for a cola...no Pepsi, no Coke in the entire place. That is poor management of supply chain. The furniture had rips. At least turn over the cushions. Breakfast was included and was identical to breakfasts at most chain hotels. Nothing out of the normal. The bed was so soft, I woke up with a backache and the sheets were so thin. This is the problem, investors buy up these chains and cut to the bone in the running of them. Tonight we are staying in another small town at the town's main hotel. What a difference. The cost was $60 less than what we paid at Holiday Inn. The room is renovated and nearly twice the size. It is spotless. The glass on the shower doors listens. The tv gives all kinds of options. The bed is firmer to support you. The difference is ownership. Chains don't care. Private ownership hotels do. Don't stay here.

The reason for the one star review on “Service” is specifically that the GM is not awarding points to individual company employee reservations when staying at this location during a work trip.
Not following standard operating procedures, he has decided to stop awarding points and instead is running all company reservations through a one block reservation up to the end of the year.
I have notified IHG corporate of this erroneous decision. I hope that all affected by his autonomous decision, will also reach out to corporate with your concerns.

I like this hotel a lot. I stay here regularly for work. It's always clean and comfortable. The breakfast is better than most free hotel breakfasts. The air conditioners are strong. Lighting in the rooms is also better than many other hotels, though a dark spot exists near the TV. Another light above there would be perfect. The black USB outlets in the rooms all need replaced and upgraded, preferably with both USB-A and USB-C. Many defective ports. I would recommend bringing a wall port just in case. Fitness center is entirely adequate.
Overall, great hotel, and I always enjoy my stay here.
EDIT: cleanliness seems to be going downhill lately. Hallways are stained. Rooms have slight strange odor. Fitness center smells like urine. Small maintenance items being neglected. Reducing my rating from a 5 to a 4.

Worth it. Waled was great to work with and super accommodating. I will be telling my company to use them more often. Very clean. We left a Marriott because it was sooo swanky that my wife had dust allergies from the HVAC and they charged $13/day for their "free WiFi". Holiday Inn Express is where it is at. I look forward to being back.

I had a great stay at the Holiday Inn Express New Castle PA. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived, which made a big difference. One of the best touches was the fresh baked cookies DAILY—such a simple thing, but it really made the stay feel warm and inviting. Highly recommend if you’re looking for comfort and great service!
