Overall, our stay was okay, but unfortunately there were several issues that made it disappointing.
First, I want to recognize Tyler, who was extremely helpful throughout our stay. He worked with us well, made sure our concerns were addressed, and provided great customer service.
However, there were many negative experiences as well. The breakfast was very disappointing and not up to the standards we've experienced at other Best Western locations. We are Gold Members and have stayed at many Best Western hotels while traveling for sports events, and this was by far one of the worst breakfasts we've had.
When we first arrived, an employee was smoking in the parking lot and immediately began telling us stories about how locals don't stay there because of drug use and how locals come in and do bad thing to there animals as to we are traveling with my dog also mentioned other disturbing behavior in the area. This was very unprofessional and made for an uncomfortable first impression.
When we entered our room, we noticed white residue on the bed frame and what appeared to be dried mucus on the wall. Cleanliness clearly needs improvement. Additionally, staff entered our room while we were away without our permission or prior notice.
Throughout our stay, we repeatedly saw employees standing in the parking lot on their phones rather than assisting guests. At one point, I even had to go outside and call for help because there was no one available in the lobby, and the only employee I could find was outside smoking.
To make matters worse, I was charged twice for my reservation. Instead of being charged approximately $230, I was charged over $530. This created a major inconvenience while traveling. When I spoke with management, I found them unwilling to help resolve the issue, and the interaction felt dismissive and rude.
Because of the cleanliness concerns, poor customer service from several staff members, unauthorized room entry, and the billing issues, I will not be staying here again. I also would not recommend this location to others traveling to the sports complex.
The only bright spot of our stay was Tyler, whose professionalism and helpfulness stood out.
Best service in all of Oregon. Nice rooms amenities Great place to stay great staff ESPECIALLY SAVANAH AND ANGELICA AT THE front desk. Very helpful very friendly answer any questions I had, got me extra pillow sheets ect good with the kids very patient always got a smile on their face always kind when you come in and when you leave. Time for a RAISE for these gals NO excuses (Boss/Manager) those girls deserve it made my stay 1000% better. Well definitely stay again this is my 2nd stay in 4 months here and I'm coming from California. I made sure to come back to this place when I was traveling with my family. A++ 10 STAR 🌟 Good job Best Western Carter Lake Location. 👍🤠
This is a beautiful hotel, wonderful employees. The hot tub is exceptional. Enjoy your stay. We sure are

If you book online be aware that any REFUND etc WILL NOT be done by hotel. Best Western refused refund and told me all 3rd party booking sites are liable, its not their problem. I had googled the hotel because all other people in group booked online & I did the same. Attempting to contact booking site has not been successful & difficult to reach a real person. Recording states high volume of calls, please leave message & we will call you back. I've left numerous voice messages with no return calls.
My room was UNCLEAN upon arrival. Didn't matter because I clean before I touch anything. Went out for a few hours & came back late. I bring all my towels, blanket, pillow, etc because of allergies. Was bitten 3 times & decided to look a little deeper into room cleanliness. Outlet covers had thick grime on tops, drawers had debris/dead bugs, carpet had debris, like not vacuumed or vacuum was ineffective, heating/cooling unit had not been cleaned in long time (thick with debris), door trim had red brown dots/stains, sink faucet where water comes out was moldy/dirty(have picture of qtips used.), sink drained slow & knew air flow was blocked(lots of thick black mold blocking it), pulled bed away from wall-small dots/debris on bottom, under bed- debris, rips, unknown substances. I know a lot of traffic goes thru these rooms. I don't expect pristine conditions & im sure they do try. Everyone else who stayed there from my group had clean rooms.
After getting bit I requested a different room. I wasnt rude & made sure no one was around. Front desk girl stated none available so I was going to ignore it all since I had a graduation party at noon. I went to my room and received a phone call from the front desk that I was kicked out of room. Because I stated I had been bitten they had to remove me from room. I asked if I could move after my party. They said leave immediately & we will not refund you. This was at 10:00, party at 12, & I was not ready for it. I asked to leave to buy crates across street & was refused. Luckily someone from my group grabbed them for me. I frantically packed up my stuff, had to separate my essentials & hope nothing has contaminated my belongings. I was sweaty & not ready for nephews graduation.
This was a holiday weekend, all prices were double, & availability is low. I spent the next 3 or 4 hours trying to find a room because my husband & daughter were coming that day. I missed the party, was stressed out, & not dressed properly to go socialize. Because they didn't refund my money and prices were raised it was difficult to find anywhere to stay. I found a room for 89.00 and booked it. Was worried about infecting anyone else, if infected, so decided to sleep in car. Im out over $600 & still trying to reach someone to resolve the issue.
I did take photos but many did not turn out or can not tell what picture is about. I didn't expect to use them(I try not to post bad reviews) & would not have posted if problem was resolved. Since I'm having problems being refunded for nights I did not stay, this is a warning about their policies.
Side note: When trying to find another place to stay, that same motel came up as having 1 room available. Wonder if it was room 413? It was cleaner when I left than when I arrived.
The hotel has several areas where there are supposed to be vending machines, but none of them have any. The ice in the machine tastes bad. I had a couple of kids climbing all over and around me the entire time I was in the hot tub, which was kinda warm. The beds are terrible, the rooms are dreary, and the fake eggs and FoxNews propaganda for breakfast put a really bad taste in my mouth, with metaphorically and literally. The kid at the desk was nice. Too bad he's on a sinking ship.
