My family rented the Merlot Manor cabin for my mom’s and my combined birthday weekend. We chose the Merlot Manor cabin because it is the only cabin with a hot tub. Unfortunately, the hot tub was broken when we arrived and we could not use it during our three night stay. We did report the issue to maintenance who said “they would try to send a technician out”. We received no follow-up. It appears that the hot tub is likely second hand and not well serviced. Beware if you are renting this room for the hot tub.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, the gorgeous views, and paddling around the lake and river. However, we would not stay here again. Here are some issues with the cabins:
The owners of this hotel focused their renovations on decor details and themed rooms but fell short on a lot of the basics hotel rooms need to provide a comfortable stay.
1. Lighting - our cabin only had bright overhead lights without dimmers. Each bed only had one dim lamp making bedtime reading as a couple near impossible. There was also poor lighting in bathroom vanity. My mom had difficulty putting in her contact lenses.
2. The seating in the Merlot Manor is uncomfortable. There is not enough living room seating to accommodate 4 individuals staying in the cabin.
3. The kitchenette was handy for breakfasts and lunches, but there were no table or chairs in the cabin. We ate snacks and some meals around the small coffee table which was not ideal. The room easily has enough space for a two seater table and chairs.
4. The sliding door off the patio easily unlocks from the outside by just tapping on the handle.
5. There is a lack of hooks and hanging space. If a cabin is advertised for 4 people, make sure that are enough hooks in entry to accommodate jackets for 4 people and towel hanging space in the bathroom.
6. Clutter and useless decor items need to be edited and removed from the cabin. There was hardly any space to set down personal belongings because every surface was covered with fake plants, vases, non working clocks, etc. It is possible to have a cute theme without all the knick-knacks.
I think this place has potential with some modifications.

We stayed at this nice little lakefront resort just off the Oregon coast. It’s a little off the beaten path but was easy to find. They recently updated all of the rooms with modern decor. Beautiful waterfront views of the lake from our room. They have some activities including fire pits. The office sells champagne and s’mores kits for your enjoyment. Full stocked kitchenette is available if you feel like staying in and cooking. If not there are some good restaurants not far away. I would recommend and would stay here again.

An amazing, relaxing stay! The Vanilla Villa’s views were magical to wake up to. Look out for river otters from the window too! The cabin was spacious and clean. The location is perfect, right along the water and the drive in was easy. You’re 10-15 minutes from many restaurants and shops in Florence and right by fun attractions like Sandland Adventures. Would definitely stay again!

We had the best time at the Florentine Waterfront hotel. From the moment re arrived the service was top notch! Checking in was a breeze. The cabin was so cute and perfect for our group of 4 people. Was amazing to be right on the lake and to have our own deck right off our cabin. They had games to play outside the cabins and a camp fire to sit around after dark. The best part was waking up in the morning and having coffee on the deck, with a lake view. Would definitely stay here again. We wish we would have had more time to stay longer!!

I stayed in one of the Midnight Marina rooms, and I found the room to be disappointing. I experienced several issues, the most notable of which were a strong musty smell (due to mildew growth on the shower curtain) and inadequate cleaning of the room (there were dog toys from a previous guest, and the toilet was not clean).
There were also a few minor issues. The owners were striving for a boutique feel but ended up using substandard materials (pleather couch, synthetic throw blankets, soft mattress). The lights above the bed lack a dimmer switch and were too bright. The light in the kitchenette was hooked up to the bathroom light. (Good luck if you want to use the bathroom at night without waking up your partner.)
All in all, this was a shabby attempt at renovating an old motel.
