As far as our stay goes, we arrived around 5:30 p.m. for check-in. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was very courteous.
The elevator has definitely seen better days. The hallways were always clean, smelled nice, and the carpet was well maintained. Upon entering our room, the door was sticking and had to be pushed open.
Our room was already nice and cool, which was especially appreciated on an almost 100-degree day. There were multiple bell carts available to transport our belongings and luggage.
We stayed in a two-bedroom suite that was very well laid out. Upon entry, you walk directly into the shared living space, which includes a table with a couple of chairs and a kitchenette. The kitchenette featured a full-size refrigerator, a full-size dishwasher, dishwasher soap, two electric cooktop burners, a microwave, and a toaster. It also included just about everything you would need to prepare or eat a meal. The thermostat for the entire suite is located in the common living area.
The main bedroom had a queen-size bed that was quite firm. The pillows were comfortable, and the lamps with built-in power outlets were very convenient. There was also a nice desk with its own lamp and chair. The room included a very nice wooden closet with hangers and a laundry basket, along with a sink, mirror, and spacious countertop. A hair dryer was also provided.
The second bedroom was similarly equipped with a closet, sink, mirror, countertop, and hair dryer. It featured two queen beds, both of which were noticeably softer than the bed in the main bedroom. The lighting was good, and there was also a full-length mirror.
The bathrooms were where the hotel's age was most noticeable. The paint on the bottoms of the doors and door frames was worn away. As a taller person, I found both the shower heads and the toilets to be fairly low. Both shower curtain rods were very loose and felt like they could pull out of the wall. Overall, the bathrooms showed the most wear compared to the rest of the suite.
The complimentary hot breakfast was excellent and offered a wide variety of options. Hot items included scrambled eggs, sausage patties, sausage links, biscuits and gravy, and oatmeal with several toppings. There were three cereal choices with both regular milk and soy milk, as well as a yogurt bar with multiple topping options.
There was also a mini Belgian waffle maker with fruit toppings and syrup, along with a toaster offering several bread choices, including bagels and English muffins. Fresh fruit was available, although it appeared to be mostly melon, so I'm guessing it was seasonal.
Additional toppings and sides included sliced tomatoes, guacamole, shredded cheese, salsa, Cholula hot sauce, hard-boiled eggs, cottage cheese, and several other cold items.
Drink options included cranberry juice, apple juice, orange juice, and a small soda fountain offering water, Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, root beer, and Minute Maid lemonade.
Overall, the breakfast was much better than expected and provided a great value compared to eating breakfast at a restaurant.
We didn't use the pool, but it looked very nice. There also appeared to be plenty of comfortable outdoor seating around the pool area.
The hotel's location is another strong point. It has easy access from 71st Street and Garnett Road, as well as quick access to Highway 169. Nearly every type of restaurant you could want is within a one- to two-mile radius, with many fast-food and sit-down restaurants within walking distance. There's also a Cinemark movie theater and a gas station within walking distance, making the location very convenient.
