  We booked this hotel because we love Staybridge Suites and stay whenever that is an option. We booked this room about 45 minutes before checking in at 8 PM. We had just stayed at another Staybridge in Cleveland a few days prior and that stay was so wonderful, we paid the extra cost this hotel charges to stay again at the Akron-Stow location. I understand these are independent businesses but like I said, we have stayed at several so have come to expect a certain standard. I forced my husband to pay for this expecting that same experience. At the entrance several people including the desk clerk were hanging around the entrance most of the evening smoking so we had to walk through that cloud of smoke like we were at a bar. After driving for hours we get to our room, open the door and a weird fishy, odd smell hit us. I know it is a pet friendly hotel and that doesn't bother me but I cannot tell you what that smell was. I thought it might be the dishwasher or sink, oddly 8 PM and the dishwasher was running, there was food on the wall, cupboards, handles, and counters. It was almost like some had just been in the room. I took the dish rag and the food was easy to clean, like it was new. Not yesterday's mess. They knew the smell was there because there was a strong disinfectant smell. I was miserable most of the evening at the only time I got any relief was when I was in the bathroom but then I had to leave the bathroom and smell it again. Avoid room 101.

  I had a lovely time at Staybridge Suites. As a female solo traveler I felt very safe and loved that the location was near food options including a 24hr McDonald's and a gas station. The staff was very polite, the room clean and comfortable with a very soft and comfy bed and super comfy pillows that put you to sleep in no time. I liked that the tv had free on demand I just had to figure out the remote who worked fine as long as you turn on the tv yourself ( at least in my room) been able to regulate the temperature of the room myself was a big plus ( menopause). The selection of Dove products in the room was very impressive and loved it.Location was perfect for going to Blossom and Front street. Im taking one star down only because one of the reasons I got this jotel was the free breakfast and it was do disappointing that I ended up at McDonald's for breakfast. Quality of food was not great nor presentation . The pantry is also very small and the options for a hot microwave meal were very limited. I got a frozen mini pizza that had to be thrown out. That been said It has a full kitchen so I bought items at Walmart and did fine. I WOULD stay again.

  The front desk man was very nice and accommodating. We got into our room and as we were lying there I noticed a dark stain under the sheets. I pulled it back and found dried blood on the mattress pad. It looked as if it wasn’t even laundered. The bathroom walls also had stains (of who knows) running down the walls. I went to the front desk and they moved us rooms. The second room had a very odd and overwhelming bad smell. I can’t quite figure out what it was. I then went down to the front desk where I was offered an 3rd new room. I opted for a refund & we went next door to the Fairfield Marriot and had a wonderful experience.

  Dirty bathroom, mildew, rusted shower head. Morning breakfast was average at best.
