Our room toilet overflowed at 5:30 in the morning. When alerted at 6:00am, the staff did not seem to care, offer an apology, ask if we needed more towels, offer to help, etc- actually just said that "housekeeping would look into it when they came in at 8:30am". (Maybe overflowing toilets is a normal occurrence?!)
I was checking out anyway, so I documented everything with pictures, did the best I could to mop up the floor (to keep more damage from happening to their hotel), asked for the manager's card, and got out of there after completing my toiletries in the lobby bathroom.
This hotel required a $100 deposit for incidentals and damage, so I wanted to be sure that my deposit was not affected. Since the staff would not come and look, I emailed the manager with pics, etc. He was kind enough to reply to the email the next day and note that my deposit was not affected, but did not apologize for their mess, our inconvenience, his non-caring staff, or offer any remuneration, etc.
Just not good business.

Would not stay here again. The hallways smell strongly like scented candles - I suspect this is to cover up musty odors based on how my room smelled like wet dog or feet. Shower was gross along the seams and there were stains on the curtains and wood headboard. Sheets appeared clean and shower water pressure was good. The staff were kind but it feels like the standard of cleanliness was lacking or that the building has bad ventilation.

1. We were on a block rate from a bus and the hotel staff had no sense of urgency checking us in. They never explained to the organizers that there would be a 100 dollar deposit.
2. I was in my room with the door closed at approximately 10:30pm. I was talking to my roommate from the restroom and she was sitting on the bed. We got a knock on the door from the man at the front desk that said you are talking too loud. I have never had that before. The bus driver shared a similar experience.. He said they knocked on his door and said that his TV was too loud. The very next night there was about 100 kids on a separate block rate all day long in the pool, in the halls running and making noise and nothing was said to them at all. The organizers apologized to me for the noise but the hotel staff said nothing to them.. yet the night before knocked on my door and said I was talking too loud.
3. We had ants in the room. We saw a few Friday. We sprayed them with disinfectant. We noticed them in opened soda Saturday and around the A/C. By Sunday they were crawling in the bed and we had to get up early and shake everything out. Since we were checking out.. I let the front desk know there are ants and we took video. There were others saying there was ants also. The front desk person told the manager on the phone that she saw the video. He asked them to go look themselves. The front desk lady went up to 2 different rooms and took pictures of the ants.. including in the bed. She took another 20 minutes talking to the manager and said he said give a $10 discount. UNBELIEVABLE. We were awaken with ants crawling on us. We kept having to deal with it and later realized they were in my luggage that I brought home and they offer $10 off of almost $300.00. They wouldn't do any more and pretty much didn't care.
I will never, ever, ever stay here again. I am reporting the hotel to BBB and disputing the payment with my CC company. I was willing to pay for a partial stay, but the lack of concern and only offering $10 compensation was honestly a slap in the face. I really felt like we were discriminated against.
Clean , friendly staff. Looks to be redone recently. Wall across the street to the Graeters ice cream shop for a treat. Looks to be very safe to walk in this area.

We've stayed at this hotel many times and generally really enjoy it. The rooms are comfortable, the staff has generally been good, and we particularly enjoy being able to use the pool and hot tub. During this stay, however, a private individual appeared to be conducting swimming lessons for very young children in the hotel pool for an extended period. The children were understandably crying/screaming much of the time, making the pool area difficult for other guests to enjoy.
I asked hotel management whether these lessons were authorized and whether private commercial swimming instruction is permitted in the guest pool. They said "the manager has a deal with her".
Is she licensed, insured, and this limits the pool use for approximately 2 hours to other guests, so I have questions and concerns and quite frankly, this made me not want to stay here anymore.
I would appreciate clarification from Best Western regarding the policy on outside/private businesses using hotel amenities while paying guests are using the property.
