The Holiday Day Ann customer service says they have availability then asks if I have a membership I say no and then there is no availability. My girlfriend does and he says he can transfer us over. We get direct line to the actual Holiday Inn in Independence where the front desk tells us there is no availability. I tell her they transferred us because they have openings for members still because Holiday Inn transferred us because they had openings for members. They also say because it is so many events downtown and they are 10 minutes away from downtown Cleveland they are booked up. It’s a 11 pm after all events are over and still is is not 10 minutes..

Stayed here last night. The hotel feels a bit outdated, and the connecting doors between rooms let quite a bit of noise through—I was woken up several times during the night.

I was in town for a funeral. Had I realized there is what's essentially a nightclub downstairs, I would have booked someplace else. The amount of noise coming from parties in the rooms on both sides of us was way too much. The whole floor also smelled of pot smoke. If you're looking for somewhere quiet, I would suggest going someplace else.

I stayed at Candlewood Suites Independence, which shares amenities with Holiday Inn Cleveland-S Independence, and this was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve had. When booking, the amenities (like the pool) are advertised, but what they don’t tell you is that your Candlewood key card does NOT give you access. You have to go to the Holiday Inn front desk to request a separate key just to use what was already included in your stay. That alone is inconvenient and poorly communicated. The bigger issue was the service at the Holiday Inn front desk. The employee (name was Shelly/Sheila or something similar) was extremely unprofessional. She had an attitude from the start, questioned why I needed access, and acted like she didn’t even know about the shared amenities between the two hotels. I was left waiting about 30 minutes while multiple people were helped before me, some even cutting in line. During that time, she showed the same rude attitude to other guests as well. After going back to Candlewood, a staff member kindly called over for me and apologized, but even after that I returned and still waited another 15 minutes with no urgency or effort to help. To be clear, the poor experience was entirely due to this specific front desk employee at the Holiday Inn. The gentleman at Candlewood Suites was helpful, professional, and made an effort to fix the situation, which I appreciated. In the end, I NEVER received the key and was unable to take my child to the pool at all. We arrived around 7 PM to the desk, and between the confusion and poor service, the entire window to use the pool was basically wasted before it closed at 9. Offering amenities but making them this difficult to access and pairing that with this level of customer service is unacceptable. This experience completely affected my stay and honestly made me feel like I wasted my money. Management needs to do a better job communicating how amenities work between these properties and seriously address situations like this with their front desk staff. I would not stay here again based on this experience.

Blatently violating the Americans with Disabilities Act and Ohio law. Maintenance is using the access aisles between the accessible parking spaces to park their golf cart. These access aisles exist for people with disabilities to get in and out of their vehicles. My wife politely asked the woman working the front desk to have the golf cart parked next to a family member's van moved and got excuses. While we were outside, a maintenance employee came to move the cart. I tried nicely explaining to him that the access aisles are protected by state and federal law. His response was that it wasn't a handicap space rather than just apologizing and moving it. (Access aisles are protected under the law the same as the adjacent spaces.) The golf cart shouldn't have been parked there to begin with, but it was the attitude and excuses that drove me to leave this review. This Holiday Inn needs to learn that ADA is federal law and has also been adopted into Ohio code. There's no excuse for this. The parking lot isn't even ADA and Ohio code compliant without the cart illegally parked.
