Our family came across the country to see the sites. Don't bother stopping here because when we arrived, there were 2 tour buses full of youth and no one to help us. The sister missionaries said to leave if you weren't part of the group. A missionary fixing the water heater told us she couldn't help us. So basically my family of 3 could not be accommodated. Extremely disappointing and cost us over an hour of driving! Maybe if we could have waited another 2 hours, we could have seen it, but our schedule couldn't accommodate such a wait. So disappointing and I was shocked at the terrible service we received!

We know what all happened here, so it was good to visit. But besides the history, the tour wasn't worth driving out of our way. We would have rather had senior missionaries that could help us appreciate the depth of the stories. This is what we anticipated from the reviews. The young sisters just didn't seem very excited to meet us--it felt like it was a job for them. They needed to get us out rather quickly, not sure why. Afterwards we saw them chatting with a couple other sisters out in front of the house. Maybe it was time for the changing of the guard, and a long day for them. The grounds (and bathroom) were nice, as they always are. It would be nice to have some kind of a room or even an outdoor covered shelter where one could read about the events and get a little depth as to what was going on at that time period. We loved the ticket cost (free) ;-)

This was one of my favorite stops. The view is beautiful and it's very spacious. The tour guide was very informative and shared tender moments that happened here. I felt peace and gratitude for the sacrifice of those who lived here.

Such a peaceful place to visit. It is a long drive from the rest of the sites at Kirtland but it is worth it. The tour is well worth it and you learn about and hear such interesting things.
