  First, I've been an IHG member for more than 25 years and have never needed to change the room for location or quality. We booked a 2 night stay at this hotel. Upon entering the "Water front balcony room" at the highest rate available, the room was very small. It did have a ~3' deep balcony that overlooked Saranac Lake but the table and chairs set out there would only fit a 10 year old and there was no room for anything else but to stand. Yes, a beautiful view of Saranac lake but not what I expected for the $325/night fee. Then came the king bedroom. This room is located one floor above all of the utilities that run the hotel (compressors, air handlers, kitchen fans for the kitchen below, etc.) and their associated resonating noise. I went back down to the desk to see about moving rooms and the only other room available was the one directly below this one directly adjacent to the aforementioned equipment. Though I had good reason to, I couldn't just leave the hotel because I knew that they would require giving up the $325 + taxes totaling $365 for the first night so I contacted other hotels to be sure we would have a room somewhere else for the 2nd night. I then went back to the desk again and advised them of the issues and that I would be checking out in the morning. The attendant had to "check with the manager". He came back and advised that we would be given the $325 credit, no problem. Excellent! We spent the night there and the resonating noise had it's effects. Even worse, there is a smoke detector mounted directly over the bed. Every 3 seconds, all night (yes I counted several times because of the resonating noise kept waking me) it would blink a bright white LED light DIRECTLY OVER THE BED. Happy to leave the next morning. However, the "credit" was for only the $325, not the associated taxes on that fee so they were now charging me $480 for a single nights' stay. Completely unprofessional. AMEX will be disputing the charge. The image of the hotel online looks wonderful, which is why we chose this hotel but they are hiding the restaurant/kitchen building to the right of the hotel in that image behind some low branched trees. That's the 3 shingled roof you look out at from the bedrooms, no "water view". For $325/night +, I expected better.

  Nice room, gorgeous location, but I was awoken to the upstairs neighbor walking and I could hear every step it seems. Other than that, was a nice clean hotel.

  Truly loved this place! Apul was super nice making this enjoyable stay, rooms and everything were super clean. Will definitely be back

  Great visit to Saranac Lake. Beautiful hotel right on the water. Chairs & fire pits outside. Room was clean & modern decor. Comfortable bedding. Sweeping lobby & great room. Excellent restaurant too; we had dinner & breakfast there.

  Our daughter held her wedding at this venue this past weekend! Gorgeous location! Event coordinator Bailey went above & beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. The restaurant was closed to the public so we had the entire area (inside & out) for our event. Highly recommend this venue for a wedding.
