Whilst rooms are slightly bigger than the NY average that’s about where it stops, beds are uncomfortable, rooms get a lot of street noise from below, bathrooms are tiny, there is no mini bar or snacks, no coffee machine, the aircon is noisy, and rooms seem old, tired and dated! Hotel lobby is new and spacious and staff are friendly! Location isn’t too bad, just a few blocks from time square if that’s the type of experience you want, subway stations are close by, would I stay here again, definitely not, for the money you spend there are nicer out there! Rooftop bar is a good vibe! Also didn’t get IHG points cause I booked from a differ website which is a joke, points and qualifying nights should apply no matter where u book. Do better IHG
A cockroach was found in our room during our stay. After reporting the issue, I was promised a reimbursement of $47 per night for the 3 nights we stayed. However, I have never received this compensation, and despite multiple follow-up messages, the hotel has not responded.
I am very disappointed, not only by the issue itself but also by the lack of communication and follow-through afterward. I expected better customer service and accountability.
Update: thanks Ismail for your answer but when I call, your team doesn't want to take care of it. This support team is worst and worst... Please send me an email

The rooftop breakfast area is only accessible via stairs beyond the 15th floor, creating accessibility concerns for wheelchair users and guests with limited mobility. The access corridor appears narrow and enclosed, and I request that FDNY and the Department of Buildings review the emergency egress, occupancy, fire safety compliance, and ADA accessibility of this area.
UPDATE FOLLOWING HOTEL'S RESPONSE
I am writing to request an inspection and review of the accessibility, life safety, means of egress, and code compliance of the rooftop restaurant, Main Buffet breakfast area, and bar located at the Kimpton Theta Hotel Times Square, New York.
I was a guest at the hotel from 13 June 2026 to 21 June 2026. During my stay, I regularly accessed the rooftop breakfast and bar area and became concerned about the safety and accessibility of this public guest facility.
My observations are as follows:
1. The rooftop breakfast area and bar appear to be accessible only up to the 15th floor by elevator, following which guests are required to use stairs to reach the final level.
2. There appears to be no wheelchair-accessible route to the rooftop restaurant and breakfast area. Guests using wheelchairs or having mobility impairments may therefore be unable to access this facility.
3. The access route including the staircase is narrow and enclosed, and has kitchen and temporary stores built up by ply panelling. I was unable to identify any alternative accessible route or evacuation route for persons with disabilities.
4. The buffet breakfast restaurant and bar are open to hotel guests and the public, resulting in regular occupancy of the rooftop level.
5. The access corridor to the restaurant from staircase had built of temporary ply panelling walls, and stairway arrangement raised concerns regarding emergency evacuation, occupant load, fire safety compliance, and adequacy of means of egress.
According to the ADA Accessibility Guidelines:
• Section 4.1.3(1)(a) requires that at least one accessible route connect accessible building entrances with all accessible spaces and elements within the building.
• Section 3.5 defines an accessible route as a continuous unobstructed path that may include corridors, ramps, elevators and lifts. A stair-only route does not constitute an accessible route.
• Section 4.1.3(5) requires passenger elevator service to occupiable levels in multi-storey facilities unless a specific exemption applies.
• Section 4.1.3(9) requires accessible means of egress from accessible occupiable levels.
In view of the above, I respectfully request that the hotel management and the relevant authorities investigate and verify:
1. Whether the rooftop restaurant, breakfast area and bar comply with ADA accessibility requirements.
2. Whether an accessible route exists for wheelchair users and persons with disabilities.
3. Whether the occupancy and use of the rooftop level comply with approved building permits and occupancy classifications.
4. Whether the stairway width, exit capacity, emergency evacuation provisions and fire protection systems comply with applicable New York City Building Code and Fire Code requirements.
5. Whether the facility has been approved by the relevant authorities for its current public use of buffet restaurant at roof top and whether occupancy has been increased in terms of rooms, at the cost of usage of unapproved areas.
I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed in the interest of public safety, accessibility, and compliance with applicable regulations.
regards
I recently visited New York for a very special occasion, and I can honestly say that my stay at this hotel exceeded all expectations. From the moment I arrived, the level of service was exceptional.
A special thank you goes to Nouea at the front desk, who truly made my trip memorable. When I arrived, there was an issue with my reservation, and it had not been properly made. Nouea immediately stepped in and went above and beyond to assist me. He handled everything with professionalism, patience, and genuine care, ensuring my reservation was secured and arranging a beautiful room for my stay. Throughout my visit, he remained attentive, courteous, and always willing to help with any request. His dedication to guest satisfaction made my trip relaxing, stress-free, and truly enjoyable.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and always greeted guests with smiles. My room was comfortable, spacious, and impeccably maintained. One of my favorite features was the rooftop bar and restaurant, which provided the perfect setting to enjoy breakfast in the morning or dinner in the evening while taking in the atmosphere.
I would also like to recognize Rafal from the bell staff. He was consistently helpful, professional, and friendly throughout my stay. He assisted with my luggage whenever needed and took the time to explain how to use the complimentary bicycles offered by the hotel. His positive attitude and willingness to help never went unnoticed.
Overall, this hotel offers outstanding accommodations, exceptional amenities, and world-class service. Every member of the staff contributed to making my stay special, but Nouea extraordinary customer service truly stood out. Thank you for making my New York visit such a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning in the future.
The A/C is insufficient. We stayed the weekend and it was in the low 80’s in NYC. We paid for early check-in and immediately noticed how warm the room was. The A/C was set at 65 degrees yet the room was over 70. We thought it was perhaps because we had just checked in and the A/C may not have been active, so left our bags and returned to the room that afternoon. Our room was now 73 degrees. It’s not unbearable, but the hotel is not inexpensive and one expects the air conditioning to work. We called the front desk and they said they would have someone look at it. We went out for dinner and upon returning it was still over 70 degrees in our room. We spoke to the person at the front desk to let them know and they again said that someone would address it. Upon return late that night the room was still 71 degrees (likely because the sun had long set and it was just cooler out). The next day another couple asked us in the elevator if our A/C worked because theirs did not and they had changed rooms twice trying to find effective air-conditioning, so this appears to not be an isolated incident. I messaged the front desk and they sent up an engineer who looked at our A/C and said it was fixed. We left the room, yet several hours later upon returning it was still in the 70s. This was NYC when it was 80 degrees outside, I cannot imagine staying here when the temperatures hit the 90s.
