⚠️ BE VERY CAREFUL WITH UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES My stay was fully paid for at the time of booking. Upon arrival, I was asked to provide a credit card only as a security deposit. After my departure, however, USD 400 was charged to that card without any explanation or prior notification. I have contacted the hotel several times to ask for an explanation, and they simply do not respond. This is completely unacceptable. The booking was already fully paid, USD 400 was subsequently charged to the card used for the security deposit, and the hotel refuses to respond. I strongly recommend checking your bank statement carefully after staying here and thinking twice before leaving a card as a security deposit. Extremely disappointing experience and a serious lack of transparency. UPDATE: The hotel has now acknowledged in writing that the $398.99 charge was incorrect and was caused by a “system setup issue.” They have confirmed that a refund has been issued to my card. I will update this review again once the refund has actually been received. UPDATE 08/14: The refund has now been received. Due to the exchange rate, I ended up receiving €6 less than the amount that was originally charged. To be clear, the €6 is not the point. What matters is that an incorrect charge was made to my card in the first place, without explanation or prior notification, and that I had to repeatedly contact the hotel to get it corrected. I am simply documenting the financial consequence of their error. What concerns me even more is that, based on other reviews, it appears that other guests have experienced similar unexplained charges. This makes the situation particularly concerning and suggests that this may not have been an isolated incident. I appreciate that the hotel eventually refunded the charge, but this situation should never have happened in the first place.

We are completely dissatisfied with our stay at this Holiday Inn. Here are the reasons. 1. Elevator issues: it only has 2 elevators for 36 floors and no service elevator so you are sharing it with the workers as well. We spent so much time waiting for an elevator about 15 to 20 minutes each time. Then they had issues with one of them for about 24 hours which made things even worse. Then you add the fact that workers were going up and down just a couple floors at a time. It was a mess and everything we picked up an elevator on our 31st floor, it would atop at almosy every floor to pick up other guests or workers and would take another 5 to 10 mintues just to get down. 2. The sitting area outside the lobby is filled with weed smokers. With an extremely small lobby (if you want to call it that) that is a meeting place but you can't with all the smokers. Security is out there most of the time but they don't enforce the no smoking signs. 3. The staff speaks no english so good luck trying to get help from the maid or service. 4. The room was lacking space to hang things including your hand towels etc. It was also very musty smelling. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I have stayed at many other hotels that are much nicer in NYC for the same price.

Our stay at Holiday Inn Times Square turned into one of the worst hotel experiences we have ever had. In the middle of the night, the fire sprinkler system activated unexpectedly, forcing all guests to evacuate the building. We had to wake up in the middle of the night and walk down 32 flights of stairs. It was a frightening and exhausting experience, and we barely slept afterward. When we were finally allowed back into our room, we found it flooded with water. Our clothes, luggage, cash, and even our passports were soaked. We have photos and videos clearly documenting the damage caused by the flooding. The hotel acknowledged responsibility for the incident and sent us an email confirming that we would receive a refund of US$366 for one night of our stay. However, despite this written promise, we have still not received any reimbursement. We have contacted Booking.com and have been waiting far longer than the promised timeframe. Beyond the financial loss, this incident caused enormous stress, ruined our night, and significantly impacted our trip. We expected the hotel to take responsibility and resolve the situation quickly, but unfortunately that has not happened. We are extremely disappointed with how this matter has been handled. Until the promised refund is actually processed, we cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. If you value customer service and accountability when problems occur, you may want to consider staying elsewhere.
