HGU New York: A New York Hotel 110 Years In The Remaking. The striking Beaux-Arts structure that is HGU New York has welcomed countless guests since 1905. Ornate plaster ceilings tell of legendary parties and infamous patrons of old, while 90 rooms and suites offer luxury and modern convenience. Restful sleep is paired perfectly with an intoxicating art collection throughout the rooms, corridors, and living spaces; each corner a destination of possible repose or reverie. Derived from the style coveted by the leisure and business set, HGU New York awakens all senses and consistently impresses. This is not Midtown; this is NoMad.
HGU New York is my all time favourite New York City hotel! I always recommend this boutique hotel to others visiting and have yet to receive bad feedback. From staff, to cleanliness, to location, everything is impeccable here!
Staff very accommodating, I let them know I’ll be visiting for a birthday and to my surprise they decorated the room for us! Room was very clean, as spacious as a New York hotel can be. Mini fridge, bath robes, slippers, hair dryer, and umbrella all available for use in room.
Location is very central to many hot spots in the city. A few steps away from the 6 subway train. Great food spots all around.
There is a lovely rooftop patio here that we enjoyed sitting at however my only wish is they would keep it open later than 9pm especially during the summer time, perhaps 11pm or midnight especially for weekend!
I will be returning again (and again after that!). Thank you HGU for another wonderful stay.

Extremely impressed with HGU, our first time in New York - an amazing location just off Madison Avenue that didn’t feel touristy or hectic when coming and going from the hotel. Very modern finish throughout the hotel, cool rooftop terrace, and beautiful en-suite rooms. A big thank you to Selina the GM who helped resolve a difficult situation we experienced throughout our first night with obscenely behaved next door neighbours - she handled it with professionalism and care, and it meant the remaining 3 nights of our stay were perfect - big thank you!

The hotel itself has some noticeable flaws that don't make sense for a 4-star boutique property in a competitive market like NYC.
There were no coffee machines in the rooms or anywhere in the hotel itself, which was very surprising. I requested a kettle, but wasn't provided any cups the only cups in the room were reserved for the mini-bar. There was also an iron provided, but no ironing board.
The bathroom was relatively spacious, but the toilet paper holder was placed just inches from the bowl. Additionally, when I flushed, the flapper didn't seal properly, causing the water to run endlessly until I manually closed it.
The room itself was quite spacious, but it was missing basic amenities that really should be standard. There was only one accessible outlet by the bed, as the other was fully occupied by hotel equipment. The window faced a dark, tiny interior courtyard, so there wasn't much natural light or a view of the city, though that’s understandable for NYC.
Lastly, there isn't a true business center just a room with a water fountain and chairs. I didn't try the restaurant.
The staff were very friendly, The owner was very nice. I left my comments before checking out, but please invest in coffee machines for the rooms or atleast some on hand, when requested.

We loved staying here for 3 nights, family stay. In fact, kids mentioned that oull-out sofa bed mattress has been the most comfortable they have slept on. We rook the king-bed suite. Quiet. Clean, comfortable bed. Very close to 6 line subway. In korea-town. I am very picky and could not find a single thing to complain about. I booked through booking.com I contacted the hotel multiple times after booking and before stay for various queries and always got polite courteous employees on the phone. We parked overnight at a nearby facility for $45/night (van)...4 min walk from hotel.
