I don't write many reviews, but this one I feel is important.
While the hotel itself, the rooms and check-in hosts were great, there was one thing that literally ruined on stay-cation.
One of the amenities the hotel outlines on their social-media is the pool. Great, it caught my attention. What better than to be in concrete jungle, tanning at the outdoor pool!
Wishful thinking.
So I check in, and head to the pool right away, only to learn that the pool is owned/managed by the Equinox gym company, not by the hotel. When I asked for 2 chairs, I was told "first come first served" by a host named Sunny. She was as nasty as can be, with attitude from head to toe. I'm standing and waiting, and then turn around to see that a newcomer grabbed 2 chairs. I asked Sunny "Why is that person getting those chairs, I was here first" her response: "First come first served" and just walked away. The following day, the song changed. I'm told that today there's a waiting list and the wait is over 2 hours!! So one day I'm supposed to fight for a chair, the next day there's a list! When I attempted to just take a chair, Sunny was right behind me removing my stuff! What a dedicated employee she is!
I just want somebody to explain this to hotel management: When somebody drops $1800/night on a room in the summer, they ARE expecting to get VIP access to ALLLLLLL amenities. Making somebody feel like a beggar asking for a pool chair, then given attitude by some gym clerk gave my visit a 1-star feeling. This is my last time at this hotel.

Really cool hotel in the heart of New York City, surrounded by stunning architecture and some of the city’s most breathtaking views. The property is modern, impeccably maintained, and features a state-of-the-art fitness center. The rooftop pool was the standout with incredible city views, a sleek, modern design, and an atmosphere that felt more like a private club than a hotel. The food is really good, the service is attentive. Out of all of my hotel stays, this mattress was hands down the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept on.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at a hotel. The staff at the entrance and the managers were consistently rude and unprofessional. They acted as if guests were an inconvenience rather than people they were there to assist.
Their attitude created a very unwelcoming environment and left a bad impression from start to finish. Hospitality should be based on respect and professionalism, but I didn't experience either here. I would not recommend this hotel and hope they make significant improvements to the way they treat their guests.

I stayed at your hotel last weekend, and overall I had an incredible experience. This is honestly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Everything about the hotel felt luxurious. The service was excellent, the room was beautiful and extremely high-end, the view was stunning, and I loved the gym, spa, restaurants, and every other part of the property. It truly was an amazing stay.
However, I would like to share one disappointing experience with the pool service because I believe it deserves the management team’s attention.
I was relaxing on a pool daybed when a staff member informed me that I could only use it for two hours because there was a long waiting list. Although I was surprised, I respected the policy and left when my time was up. I then asked to be added back to the waiting list for another daybed.
I waited from around 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.—about five hours—before I finally received a text message saying that a daybed was available. I had gone to the gym and saw the message shortly afterward, but when I returned, another staff member told me I was 12 minutes late and that my reservation had been given away. He said I would have to join the waiting list again.
I tried to explain the situation and politely asked if there was any flexibility, but he showed no understanding, simply repeated that my spot was gone, and walked away. I found this interaction very rude and completely unexpected at a luxury hotel.
I understand that the pool is open to both hotel guests and members of the public, and I respect that. However, I strongly believe there should be a dedicated area or a certain number of daybeds reserved for hotel guests. Guests paying around $2,000 per night expect a premium experience, especially when it comes to enjoying the hotel’s amenities.
Many people choose a luxury resort because they want to spend the day relaxing by the pool. Unfortunately, I felt like I was treated no differently than someone who wasn’t staying at the hotel. During my stay, I also overheard several other hotel guests expressing the same frustration.
I hope the management team takes this feedback seriously. My stay was wonderful in every other way, but the pool management and the way I was treated by that staff member did not reflect the high standards of the rest of the hotel.
I truly hope you will consider reserving more pool seating for hotel guests in the future. It would make a significant difference and better match the luxury experience that guests are paying for.
Overall, I still loved my stay and would like to return, but I hope this issue will be addressed so future guests can enjoy the same exceptional experience throughout every part of the hotel.
Pros
* Room is the nicest I've seen in NYC. True blackout curtains, quiet, great AC, daily house keeping, etc.
Cons
* You have to take two elevators (transferring in the middle) to get to your room which is annoying
* No men's sauna, only womans!!
* Our King room didn't make much use of the windows which maybe just felt small? So there wasn't much of a view.
Mixed Bag
* On the weekdays, the included Equinox gym and pool is epic. Tons of great equipment, places to lounge etc. During rush hour and the weekends, the pool had a 3 hour wait for a chair so you have to find a small square of pool deck wedged between people if you want to lay out. The pool was a fun vibe though and the food was quite good, just expect to be crammed in if you are lucky.
* Hudson Yards felt a bit like being in a shopping mall, not the biggest fan of the area
Also FYI, definitely don't bring young kids here
