I unfortunately did not sleep well during my stay because of the noise.
There was a persistent sound from the ceiling that seemed to be water trickling through the pipes. On the first night, it was loud enough that I could still hear it through my noise-cancelling earbuds. On top of that, there was significant traffic noise from the Holland Tunnel, which is only about a block away, until around 2–3 a.m.
I asked the front desk whether the water noise was specific to my room or something that could be heard throughout the hotel. The first person I spoke with said they would check with the front desk manager and that they should be able to move me. I started packing, but after waiting about an hour without hearing back, I had to leave for work. A second person then told me they didn't have another room available at that moment, so I would need to pack up all of my belongings, leave the room, and return later. Eventually, I had to explain the situation again to a third person before I was finally moved.
I was assured that the noise was specific to my original room, but I could still hear the same water/pipe noise in the second room, although it was somewhat better.
There were definitely positives: the location is convenient, very close to the 1 train and easy for getting around Manhattan. I also really liked being within walking distance of the waterfront. The staff themselves were friendly and kind throughout my stay.
Unfortunately, though, between the plumbing noise, traffic noise, and the hassle involved in changing rooms, I wouldn't stay here again.

Oh, boy. Checking in was a pain and lacked clear communication on what exactly was needed for the person who reserved the rooms. So, why not wait and communicate that when your guest arrives tired from flying so they can deal with it when they arrive? Great.☺️
Room was so so. The shower was the nicest part. No mini microwave to heat up overpriced food so that wasn’t thought out at all.
Outlets and their coordinating switches were also weird and unnecessarily frustrating. They also had a tip sign in the room which, after paying for a room, I felt was in bad taste.
Overpriced and uncaring.

Visit New York annually and always try to stay in different hotels, I definitely won't be back to this one though. The atmosphere here compared to the other hotels in Manhattan is very off. The front desk group especially, some need more customer service training. No greetings of any sort and the majority of the time acting like just by you being there, is annoying and inconveniencing. I hated having to walk by the front desk to enter or leave the hotel, because they would always have a weird look of there faces and no smiles or anything, almost as if they were looking down on me. Not my favourite. Everything else was alright, the breakfast was good, but I went twice on different days and the food wasn't at the same quality as the first time I went (I ordered pancakes the second time) I was checking out an hour after eating so didn't have the energy to complain, by the end of my trip, I was looking forward to leaving so much, I headed to the airport 6 hours early. Hopefully, the front desk issue is addressed, they are the first point of contact for the hotel (including the man floating around opening the doors, he was also chronically miserable) and from my first introduction, I knew that I picked the wrong hotel to stay in.

Be aware that Arlo NoMad does not have transparent pricing.
I booked through my company's travel platform, and my confirmation stated that I owed $0 at check-in. It never disclosed that there was a mandatory Urban Fee or what the amount would be. The fee also wasn't mentioned during check-in.
When I contacted the hotel, they directed me back to the booking platform. However, the booking platform informed me that hotels are responsible for providing mandatory fee information so it can be displayed during booking.
The issue isn't the amount—it's the lack of transparency. If a hotel knows your stay dates and room rate, mandatory fees should be included in the total price or clearly disclosed before you arrive. By the time you check in, it's too late to make an informed decision.
If you book here, be aware that the final cost of your stay may be higher than what you're shown when you reserve.
