The hotel itself is fine, good design and cleanliness overall.
The rooftop bar is a joke.
Sat for 20 minutes without anyone serving. Walked to the bartender and ordered myself. 30 minutes in I still don’t have my drink and somehow someone came later got it faster???
There is one server who for the whole duration of 30 minutes took people to the seats but never took any orders???
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
If you don’t have the capacity to serve, maybe don’t take in that many people?

Stayed here for one night and had a great experience. The hotel is well-maintained and feels premium without being overly formal. Location is excellent — just a few blocks from Times Square, close to everything but easy to step away from the crowds when needed.
Check-in was smooth and the staff were genuinely friendly throughout the stay.
Amenities are top-notch. There’s a gym on-site (the water filter is in the gym area — handy to know). The rooftop café is a highlight — great spot to unwind with a solid view of the NYC skyline. Room views are impressive too, which isn’t guaranteed in Midtown.
One thing to keep in mind: the standard rooms can feel a bit snug for a family. Worth upgrading to a larger room if you’re travelling with kids.
Overall, a great pick for solo travellers, couples, and business trips alike. Families should just factor in room size when booking.
If I could give more than 5 stars to Arlo Midtown, I absolutely would. Our stay was amazing from start to finish. What truly stood out was how incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating every single staff member was... not just to us, but also to my dog, Goku. They treated him so well!
The level of hospitality here is something special. Everyone was genuinely friendly, super helpful, and somehow even remembered us throughout our stay (probs bc of Goku😅 but still) which honestly made everything feel so welcoming.
The hotel itself is beautiful and the vibes are blissful, fun, relaxing, and effortlessly cool all at once. Felt like a resort! The rooms were amazing, comfortable, and spacious. Loved the aesthetics in there. The bathroom was clean, modern, and just really nice. Water pressure from the shower was on point too!
Cleanliness overall was top tier. The lounge/common areas were also amazing and had a great vibe. One thing I loved was being able to eat at the hotel when we brought food from outside and actually enjoy it instead of feeling like you have to leave and go elsewhere. The lounge area was perfect! It made everything feel easy and convenient, especially after roaming all day in the city. Thank you to everyone at Arlo Midtown for making our stay feel so wonderful🫶🏽

I had a very disappointing week long stay. The main issue was the noise; the hotel feels quite dated, and the antique lifts made a nonstop grinding sound that echoed into the room. It completely spoiled my sleep for the entire week. The room given to me first was filled with extreme noise that I have to change it to 22nd floor, but still it only reduced the issue a bit. The room itself was tiny and felt extremely cramped, even for NYC standards. While most of the staff were pleasant, my experience was marred by one individual who was noticeably rude and dismissive toward people of colour. Between the lack of sleep, the tight quarters, I wouldn't recommend staying here.
For breakfast, there is a restaurant on the ground floor, but the menu is limited and the service is painfully slow. Another annoyance is the water situation: they provide free water, but only in small 300ml cans. To stay hydrated, you need at least 4 a day; it feels like the hotel is forcing guests to create unnecessary trash. The location is fantastic where you can take a walk to Times Square from the hotel.
To level set expectations—this isn’t a luxury stay, it’s a really solid business hotel. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable, and there are cozy coworking spaces throughout the property.
There’s no room service, but you can order food and pick it up. They also have a restaurant, bar, convenience café, and a cute rooftop. It was quiet when I stayed, but I’ve heard it gets lively.
The location is super convenient—close to businesses and the convention center, with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and things to do nearby once you’re off the clock.
This is my third Arlo stay and I really like the brand. It’s officially my go-to when I’m in the city for work.
