My trip had a rocky start when I arrived. The management quickly remedied the issues that I have to make my trip enjoyable. The staff was very on point with the customer service recovery. I was moved to one of their best room with the most incredible view of the Hudson. They accommodate my spa treatment even during their renovation. I can’t wait to return back for another amazing experience. The only issue I had was phone service was poor, but I was able to do WiFi calling.

My friend and I had an extremely unsettling experience here in the Fall of 2023. We booked a weekend stay because there was a concert we were attending in Hudson. We arrived late in the evening and checked in. I went outside to get my dog out of the car and he waited for me in the lobby. A woman in the lobby started talking to him, saying she was a member of the Twelve Tribes (a cult we later found out has a chapter in the town), that they built this hotel, and tried to recruit us to come to a meeting the next day. All of this happened in front of the front desk staff, who did nothing to intervene. We were both very spooked and felt unsafe to stay there after upon looking them up and learning that this cult is racist (my friend is a POC) and checked out immediately to go stay somewhere nearby. Even if what she was saying wasn’t true (which I highly doubt) why would the hotel allow cult members to hang out in their lobbies and try to recruit people? Avoid this place.

Sleek Boutique Stay – Bring Patience for Breakfast As a Diamond Elite member, I appreciate modern elegance done right – and The James Newbury delivers on style. Impeccably clean, professionally designed, and quietly sophisticated for a small boutique property. The grounds are pristine, boat-friendly, and genuinely welcoming to dogs – a major plus. Coxsackie is a charming little town with real potential, though limited hours of operation apply both in town and at the hotel (expect minimal housekeeping). The letdown: breakfast. The food itself was tasty, but service was painfully slow and meek. Staff were apologetic, but no comps or recovery were offered – surprising for an elite-tier free breakfast perk. Be prepared to wait. Verdict: Gorgeous bones, great for a serene escape with your pup or boat. Just don't expect polished F&B execution. 4 stars for the physical property – operations still need work.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone at vovo for making my stay such a wonderful experience. From the time I checked in until the day I left, I felt genuinely welcomed. The staff was really kind, friendly, and always willing to help. My room was spotless, and very comfortable. Thank you to everyone who helped make my visit so enjoyable. I will definitely come back here again and will happily recommend this hotel to anyone!

We felt absolutely spoiled during our one-night stay. The hotel is relatively new, but the architect did an amazing job incorporating a few older buildings that were on the property. The setting couldn't be lovelier, right on the banks of the Hudson and a quick walk to downtown shops and restaurants. The area is quiet and in the midst of revitalization. Check-in was smooth and easy and we were assigned a river-facing room on the 4th floor. The room was spacious, the beds comfortable, and the bathroom featured a huge walk-in shower with two shower heads. There is a small fridge and a Nespresso machine. There is no microwave and the fridge had no freezer compartment, which was a minor inconvenience for us as we were traveling with a cooler with no way to refreeze our ice packs. The only other critique is that there was a lot of noise from the adjoining room, even with the door closed and locked. The family next door had a dog that barked and you can hear other people's conversations clearly. We travel with a white noise machine, which helped a lot. Be sure to check whether breakfast is included in your room rate. Even if it isn't, the prices are reasonable and the food was very good. The room rates are reasonable too. It was cheaper than the a Holiday Inn Express we stayed at the night before in Peekskill, which was not nearly as nice.
