Me and my family came for a little vacation to see my nephew off to college. The location is perfect because everything is walking distance. My kids had a ball and so did I. The workers Donna and her partners who was serving breakfast was so kind and on top of their game. They made sure everything was good. I love the fact they greeted with a smile. You don't see much of that. We will be coming back again.

Terrible customer service, no one speaks English. Room had a window AC unit that didn’t work. Called to ask for an extra fan, gave me a broken one (that I had to go downstairs and pick up myself) that spun so hard and so loud that you thought a plane was taking off. Shower had no water pressure. No complementary water bottles. Would not recommend.

We had a nice two-night stay at the Holiday Inn & Suites Downtown Buffalo. The location was excellent, and our suite was a highlight—it was very large and spacious, which made for a very comfortable stay.
The absolute standout was the breakfast and the breakfast staff. The breakfast was great each morning, and the staff were genuinely amazing—friendly, attentive, and a pleasure to interact with.
A couple of things to be aware of: ask for a higher floor if possible. The hotel is connected to a restaurant, and the smell of food from the restaurant actually woke us up in the mornings. It wasn’t terrible, but we definitely would request a higher floor next time if possible.
We were also disappointed that after reporting that our Keurig coffee maker wasn’t working, nothing was done about it during our stay, and the coffee wasn’t replenished. It was left as-is.
We were also frustrated when the front desk wouldn’t provide us with a receipt because we had booked through Expedia. We understand that the booking was made through a third party, but we still expected to be able to receive a folio/receipt for our stay, so this was a disappointing part of the checkout experience.
Finally, we saw three spiders in our room over the two-night stay. It didn’t bother us personally, but it’s worth mentioning as a heads-up for other guests.
One helpful note for future guests: parking was about a block and a half away, but it was an easy and safe walk, and we paid $12 per night. We had wondered about parking before our stay, so hopefully that’s helpful to someone else planning ahead.
Overall, there were definitely some things we enjoyed—the location, spacious suite, and especially the fantastic breakfast staff—but a few maintenance, housekeeping, and checkout issues kept this from being a higher-rated stay. Still very much worth the lower cost.
I feel so bad for the people who have to work in these poorly lit rooms and really dark hallways. The staff I encountered were all attentive and helpful, but the management seems careless, e.g. the water fountain in the gym didn't work, all the light bulbs in my room were different colors, and there's absolutely no sound insulation between the room and the hallway. There's a big gap at the bottom of the room's door -- meaning I was at the mercy of a rowdy group of unsupervised adolescents up past midnight. It was otherwise a nice enough place, clean, and I love that they're partnered with the neighboring restaurant. It just needs a bit more care & design from management to not be so gloomy, especially for the staff! I would have quickly felt depressed if I had to stay here for more than an evening.
