When you think of New York, you expect world-class standards. Unfortunately, this hotel missed the memo. The only saving grace for the Holiday Inn Brooklyn is Dina at the front desk. Her professionalism and warmth are unmatched. She provides a level of service worthy of a 6-star rating in a location that otherwise falls short.

Staying here was a pretty terrible experience. The only upside was that the room was at least fairly clean.
Downsides:
1) Sauna and steam room were not functioning and the staff had no idea or interest in turning it on.
2) hotel refused to provide drinking water
3) pool was full of extremely rowdy kids filming videos of everyone violating their privacy, staff didn't care
4) hot tub was covered in what looked like mold
5) the alarm clock woke us up at 7am, ruining our sleep (we didn't ask for or set an alarm)
6) tons of noise from the street, honking etc, despite being high up on the 8th floor
7) TV in the room didn't support any streaming services, only default channels

The staff are aloof and don't seem to be aware of I h.G corporate policy. i have been in elite number for over twenty years. And usually get such great service.Which is why I keep my card and stay at these hotels. They are consistently clean and being a rewards member usually means something. we are usually upgraded for our room. This room had shipped doors with the veneer coming off a clouded window. So you couldn't see out of it.And just didn't seem as precise and clean as most other of their hotels.I have stayed at usually twenty per year.
Probably my biggest issue is with their website.I assumed we would get a continental breakfast. It didn't stay, we would not.And all of them have it.There was no place to check include breakfast with their stay as there is in many european hotels. So breakfast was charged for over fifty dollars. the car parking was slow and instead of forty two dollars. It was over fifty two dollars. But the biggest issue was when we called for our car.We ended up waiting almost two hours. And the hotel desk knew nothing about it or couldn't call anybody apparently there, saying that is the parking garage next door responsibility to deal with all this.Yet it is posted on their website. if I had known any of this being a native new yorker, I would have parked at the garage at the end of the block for twenty dollars. all in all a big ripoff for the amount of points, it cost and not at all good service. i have addressed these issues with the hotel and they are blaming it on the parking garage and or that it was my fault for not calling or looking for the services they had, basically not caring and blowing me off.

Had an IHG credit card and saving their points for years . But when you come to claiming your free yearly night, they only give you the weekdays and not the weekends . Ended up paying for the weekend which is like $690 for Friday and Saturday ! The carpets are torned and smell so bad it triggered our allergies ! We had a single weekday stay booking by daughter and they put us in a handicap room. It was more Harzardous then a. Normal shower door room as the shower curtains do not reached the bottom of the floor, and all the water start spilling out of the bathroom!
The receptionist suggested we stay in the room if we do not want our upgraded status ! Hell no ! We changed to an upgraded room, shower door
Leaks also but at least there is a door . Carpets torn and stained , the twin beds are the first time I ever encounter holiday inn brand hotel with a matteress smaller than the wooden bed! Hahaha
Over all it’s not the best experience in Holiday inn brand hotel and I will
Not use this hotel again. It need updating and gosh the carpet needs to be thrown out!!

I stayed at Holiday Inn Brooklyn Downtown for three nights and was very disappointed with the overall experience. The room was extremely small and felt uncomfortably tight, with little to no space to move around or store luggage. There was no luggage rack, no hooks to hang a purse or jacket, and the layout made it difficult to stay organized.
The bathroom was equally inconvenient, with virtually no counter space for toiletries. Several amenities were either poor quality or unusable—the washcloths felt very cheap, and the ironing board was broken.
Cleanliness was also a concern. There was visible hair on the mattress protector upon arrival, which is unacceptable and made me question how thoroughly the room had been cleaned.
Additionally, the room lacked basic conveniences such as a microwave. The air conditioning system was another major issue—it appeared to be locked on an automatic fan setting and could not be adjusted to a proper cooling mode, making the room uncomfortable.
Overall, this stay fell well below expectations in terms of comfort, cleanliness, and basic functionality. I would not choose to stay here again.
