The vessel was clean, there were snacks for purchase and the staff was helpful. I found the sights to be underwhelming with a lot of talk about buildings and houses. The tour narrator (Nancy?) did what she could with what she had to work with, but there isn’t much to see outside of one bald eagle and two eagles’ nests, which I never did see. The cruise soured for me when, twice, Nancy made political comments that were completely unnecessary, and displayed a bit of her ignorance. She discussed how the Native American’s wouldn’t “play nice” with the Dutch regarding land, as the Dutch wanted to own the land and the Native Americans “only wanted to share the land”. She failed to mention that the land was taken from the Natives, so yeah, they might have been opposed to others owning what wasn’t for sale. Later, Nancy circled back to the Native Americans not “playing nice” with people who stole their land. I found the comments to be offensive, and it cast doubt on other information Nancy shared. How much of it was also erroneous? I got the impression Nancy might be one who prefers to erase American history rather than acknowledge the country and all of its good and bad deeds. The best part of this cruise for me was being able to get a few good photos of the full length of the USS Slater, which I had toured the previous day. I would not take this cruise again.
RESPONSE TO OWNER'S REPLY: I didn't get into this out of respect for my friend's privacy, but you went there, so here are the facts - with permission.
Yes, you made an accommodation for my friend's aide, which you are not required to do, and that remains appreciated. I DID NOT ASK FOR ANYTHING ELSE. I only followed up on what YOU OFFERED ME when my friend couldn't make the cruise due to illness. Had you not made the offer, it would have been the end of it. As I said in my email to you, your 'no refund' policy is clear, so I DIDN'T ASK FOR ANY CONSIDERATION - IT WAS OFFERED TO ME, and that turned out to be a something you wouldn't honor, so you provided an unsolicited refund for one ticket. Again, NOT SOMETHING I ASKED FOR. To be clear, there was no accommodation during the cruise. There was only the one I asked for regarding my friend's aide, and the unsolicited refund of one ticket when you refused to honor the ticket transfer offered to me pre-boarding. And yes, I remained courteous throughout.
None of this negates my review of the cruise or the narration, which curiously, you did not address in your response. Your agreement to accommodate my friend's aide and the unsolicited refund earned you two stars instead of one. Thank you.

Cute boat, cool captain and crew, and a calm day. It was a wonderful, informative, and relaxing time.
It's truly a great experience to leave the city behind and head up the Hudson to see eagles and greenery. I love industrial things, like scrap yards and power plants and it was good to see that too.
I loved learning a bit about the history of the river, as well as the area, and modern conservation efforts to protect the environment.
It was a pleasant outing of serenity, which I needed and appreciated.
Many thanks to Captain Frank, staff, and crew!
