  Birthday trip ruined by hidden fees, a hot room, and a timeshare pitch I booked this hotel for my girlfriend’s birthday. Here’s what you should know. Fees everywhere: a $40/night resort fee (while the gym was under construction), plus $25 for early check-in and $25 for late checkout because we didn’t book on their website. The front desk was cold and unwelcoming. I asked for a nice room with a view for her birthday, and nothing came of it. Our room stayed around 80 degrees all night. When we asked about AC, they brought a small fan that did nothing. The worst part: after check-in we were sent to someone who brought up her birthday and offered us $160 off steak and lobster, or a $260 cruise for $36. It sounded like a birthday treat. It was actually bait for a 90-minute timeshare presentation. Using a guest’s birthday to push a sales pitch is manipulative, and it soured the whole trip. Also, the building key card kept failing, and the lobby is up a steep hill. The room itself was solid and the microwave was handy, but I won’t be back. Celebrating something in South Lake Tahoe? Book elsewhere.

  If you are disabled, and have walking, balance problems don't book a room at The Ridge Holiday Inn. No Air Conditioning anywhere within buildings very hot muggy hallways and you have to ask for a swamp cooler, windows only open up about six inches unless you request to have the lock on the windows removed. The place is old, carpet is old, flooring scuffed worn down. My room's bathroom in the Terrace building had a plunger next to the toilet plus my friends toilet too had a plunger. That was disgusting. I found out why I had the plunger because when I was showering the toilet would gurgled with loud bubble sounds, scared me a bit. We asked for joining rooms or rooms next to each other twice not ijust once. We were told that would happen twice and the employees said sure but they were not next to each other we had over fifty feet between our rooms 6 rooms we had to pass to get to each other's rooms which is hard when you have walking issues like me. And didn't give me an option to have a one bedroom and a studio to have joining rooms. When I booked the rooms the employee didn't tell me I was going to be charged 9 months before we arrived. So they had plenty of time to make sure our rooms would be joined but we're not joined or next to each other. The person who took my reservation didn't speak English fluently which made it difficult to converse. When we checked in the front desk person named Tam didn't explain anything not even what time to check out. When I was checking out of the hotel even though it felt like a motel. I heard Valda say the speech I should of gotten when I checked in. I do not recommend the Holiday Inn. I even met a member who told me his disappointment of the grounds and how embarrassed he was for being member. I will NEVER stay there again or any other Holiday Inn.

  When we got there, they didn’t tell us anything about what existed or didn’t exist in our building that we stayed in. There was no air condition so they brought portable loud units into the room. The shower fan sound like a race car. The tub was so high you had to crawl into it. Good thing I have good knees. The dryer looks like it was from the 1970s. No one told us till the last day that there was amenities on the roof. The gym was out of order. Overall, the space in the place was a horrible experience. I would never get a timeshare if this is their example of good.

  I want to thank Johnnyjoe, front desk, for going out of his way, on a busy weekend, to make a special request happen! We had just arrived for our wedding anniversary. He started us off on fantastic and memorable week!! Thanks again Jonnyjoe!

  This place is amazing. We stayed at Naggles 12 in one of the villas for 5 days. It has everything we needed from humidifiers for the rooms to every kind of pan you would need all clean and organized. The decorations are nice there is a comfy and modern vibe to the whole lodge. The hot tubs in every building were very nice and taken care of even the indoor out door pool was cleaned frequently. The service was very helpful the daily activities were great for little ones and adults alike. The shuttle service was very convenient and went all the way into a small city. The club house also had fun activities like billiards and ping pong. Would totally recommend staying in one of the villas.
