I had a very disappointing experience at Best Western El Rancho in Roswell.
From the moment I arrived, the property felt poorly maintained. The exterior walls were visibly stained, and the overall cleanliness did not meet even basic expectations. Unfortunately, things did not improve in the room — there was a noticeable and unpleasant odor coming from the bathroom, which made the stay uncomfortable.
One of the most frustrating parts was the pool situation. The hotel advertises a pool, but there is no clear mention online that it is closed until May. When I asked about it, one staff member explained that it was not in use because it is not heated, which made sense. However, when I brought this up to the manager, his response was dismissive and unhelpful, stating “the pool is there if you want to use it,” despite a clear sign indicating it was closed. This kind of contradictory information and lack of transparency is unacceptable.
The manager’s attitude overall was rude and dismissive. There was no effort to acknowledge concerns or improve the situation, which made the experience even more frustrating.
I understand that not every stay will be perfect, but basic cleanliness, accurate information, and respectful customer service should be standard. Unfortunately, this property fell short on all three.
I would not recommend staying here.
…..
Thank you for your response.
I stand by my review, which reflects my personal experience during my stay. The concerns I raised were not about noise from neighboring guests, but rather the overall condition of the property, the odor coming from the bathroom in my room, and noticeable noise from outside traffic, including cars from the street.
Additionally, upon arrival, there were rooms being cleaned around mine. During that time, there was clearly audible music from the cleaning staff as well as noise from carts and equipment, which contributed to the overall disturbance I mentioned.
Regarding the pool, while it may be described as seasonal, there was no clear communication at the time of booking that it would be unavailable during my stay. There was also a visible sign indicating it was closed, and the information provided by staff was inconsistent, which added to the confusion.
As for the refund, I did work through a third party to partially adjust the reservation, which reflects an effort on my end to resolve the situation rather than escalate it. Staying one night does not invalidate the concerns raised, especially when alternatives require coordination through external booking platforms.
I would also note that the tone of this response reflects the same dismissive and non-proactive attitude I experienced during my stay, rather than a willingness to acknowledge concerns or improve the guest experience.
My intention in leaving a review is not to misrepresent, but to provide honest feedback so that future guests can make informed decisions.
