Came to Portales for my college graduation from ENMU. This is a great hotel. The location was incredibly convenient due to the location being so close to the University. We ended up getting two rooms, and they were both in really good condition. I like the breakfast, probably one of the best ones I have had in a HIE. There was a variety, and plenty for everyone. The staff definitely deserves their recognition. From the young lady who checked us in, to the one gentlemen who checked us out the next morning, to the servers and cooks for breakfast, I didn't get their names and I wish I would've.
The pool area was clean, and the hot tub was super relaxing. We definitely enjoyed a relaxing night in both of them.
The only thing we didn't like was the fact there was no coffee in the rooms. My mother likes her morning coffee while still in her pajamas, and didn't want to have to go downstairs just to get coffee.
Ice machine on the 3rd floor being down, was frustrating, had to go down to the first floor for Ice. Small line, but nothing drastic.
Also, the tub floors are incredibly slippery. My husband had a recent surgery on his knee and is still a little unstable. I got into the shower with a perfectly good pair of legs, and nearly busted my butt once the floors got wet and had to brace myself through most of the shower. I told my husband to be careful because it was so slippery, and he opted to not shower because he was worried he'd slip and fall. I realize having floor mats may not be ideal, but having them available for guests should be an option in the rooms. Those floors are brutal once they get wet. Even my 7 year old almost wiped out. If i would have known it was this bad, I would have tried to reserve a handicap room. So bring a floor mat if you're staying here, especially if you have small children or yourself have mobility issues.
Otherwise, I'd 100% stay here again. The good things definitely outweighed the rest. We will just have to make our own accommodations next time and bring the small stuff from home.

Clean room, very comfortable pillows and bed. Desk Clerk staff, both day and night, serve as excellent examples for customer service. Sean, night clerk, went above and beyond what I expected with a couple of minor problems. Problems mostly caused by two senior citizens not being tech savy. Only place to stay when visiting relatives in the area. Definitely will return and hope to see the same two employees who Holiday Inn is most fortunate to employ.

There are 11 of us who stayed in multiple rooms to celebrate Resurrection Sunday with family in Portales. Every one of our rooms were so clean, well maintained and comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic, the coffee is great and the prices on rooms very reasonable!! The younger kids loved the pool and the gym is well equipped!! I will always check for availability to stay here for future trips!!!

Came into town on business and stayed with a large group. There is a train that goes by across the street a couple times a day but other than that the hotel was quiet even with other large groups staying at the same time. The bed was probably the most comfortable I’ve had in a hotel for a while so I was able to get good rest. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. They put out cookies in the pm and the breakfast had very good options: special K w strawberries, raisin bran, cheerios, yogurt, omelettes w cheese and veggie egg whites, pancakes and oatmeal w/all the accompaniments, juice, tea, and coffee-which wasn’t that great but got the job done. Overall a clean and comfortable stay that I recommend when in Portales.
