  We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express on Valley Drive in Las Cruces. The hotel was clean, comfortable, safe, and well maintained, with extremely comfortable beds and friendly, attentive staff. Its convenient location provided easy access to Mesilla and New Mexico State University. We felt well cared for from check-in to check-out and would gladly stay here again. Breakfast was great!

  If I'd known this location uses motion sensor thermostats, I'd have booked elsewhere. One of the few great joys of staying at a hotel is looking forward to crisp, cool sheets and a cold room to fall asleep in. Especially when I'm arriving after midnight and want to immediately collapse into bed so I can get up early to continue a very long drive. We were told at check in to expect the room to be warm because the motion sensor thermostat doesn't run the A/C when unoccupied, but that it would cool down quickly. My bare minimum expectation was the room would be cooler than the outdoor temperature. The outdoor temperature was 77F. My room was 83F when I arrived. The AC did start cooling, but plateau'd at 81F in my room twenty minutes after arriving, with no sign of cooling further since then. If it somehow keeps cooling (against all odds) at the rate of two degrees per hour, it might approach being cool enough to comfortably sleep by the time breakfast begins and I have to be back on the road. If I sound irrationally angry, it might be because I'm currently laying on the bed completely uncovered and still sweating into the sheets, with full knowledge I will not be able to get a restful sleep tonight before an 8 hour drive tomorrow. Pre-cool the damn rooms so they aren't *hotter* than outdoors at *midnight*.

  If you want your room cool DO NOT STAY HERE!! The room's AC turns off when you leave the room, so if your out of your room during the day the room get HOT. We got there turned the AC down, went an did our stuff, got back wanting to go to bed and the room was 86 DEGREES!! Took the room 3 hours to cool off. Asked the front desk why the room was hot they said the AC turns off when you leave the room!!!

  Decent hotel for travelers. Only thing is the train goes by at 11:30 and 0400 and the whistle is loud. Good quick breakfast and coffee to start the day. If you travel with a dog, at the end of their parking lot and turn left, there is natural grass for dogs to go. We will keep this as our normal stop when visiting family.

  Room was spacious. Shower had the hot and cold water backwards so I thought there was no hot. Phone didn't work so had to go down to lobby to complain. They told me it was backwards. Pool was not open " construction" wasn't told till we checked in. Breakfast was ok coffee was good. Won't stay there again.
