  Best Western – Artesia, New Mexico We arrived around 4 p.m., and check-in was fairly quick. Traveling alone with two small children and our dog, I appreciated having a double-queen room near the back exit and parking lot. Positives - Pool: I was pleasantly surprised to find the pool open. I had passed on this location a month earlier because it was closed, and as I recall, the website indicated it would remain closed until early December. The hot tub was empty, but having the pool available meant we didn't need to leave the property for recreation. - Housekeeping: I found a luggage cart right outside our room as a housekeeper was returning it. Throughout our Friday-to-Monday stay over Columbus Day weekend, staff were consistently vacuuming, mopping, and maintaining the large rotunda. They regularly asked if we needed anything, and I never felt I had to track someone down for supplies. - Amenities: The hard laminate flooring made sense for a pet-friendly room. Guests also have complimentary access to two BBQ grills, including a flat-top, provided they clean up afterward and don't leave them unattended. Things to consider - Parking lot safety: On Saturday, we noticed broken glass in the hotel's parking lot. By Sunday morning, additional empty bottles and more glass shards had appeared. Our dog began limping during the stay, and although I couldn't find anything embedded in her paws, I worried she may have been cut. We also avoided letting our older child practice on her new scooter in the lot because of the glass. This was my biggest concern, as the hotel's own parking area didn't feel safe for either our dog or child. - Room details: All the bedding was white, which left me constantly conscious of food, snacks, and spills with young children. The raised bed frames also meant repeatedly crawling underneath to retrieve items the children dropped. - Crib charge: Cribs cost an additional $10 per night. We worked out another sleeping arrangement rather than pay $30 for our three-night stay; had I known beforehand, I would have brought my own. - Breakfast: The selection was limited to breakfast burritos, waffles, bagels, and three cold cereals, with a toaster and microwave available. The hotel restaurant remained closed to regular dining throughout our stay due to private events. Overall: Attentive housekeeping, the open pool, and convenient amenities made this a practical stay for our family. However, keeping the parking lot clear of broken glass is an important safety improvement that would make a meaningful difference for families and guests traveling with pets.

  I had called and booked a reservation, were from Roswell and just wanted to get away for my fiancés bday. Everything in town had been either booked or was going to cost about $300-$400 / night because of an air show and other stuff going on in town. We arrived at this location excited to get out of Roswell (which I had told the girl on the phone that’s where we were coming from) just to be told they don’t rent to locals! We then had to sit outside trying to find a room somewhere else because we had already made the 40 min drive wasted gas going out there it took about another hr and a half trying to find another room because everything else was super expensive or had no rooms! I was so disappointed because I’d thought Artesia was a whole different town so how were we considered locals? Dexter I can see as being local but Roswell?

  Filthy carpet ,had to wash my feet again after walking to bed from taking shower. Advertised full breakfast,has only cold food.No elevator to second floor,yet saw a luggage cart up there,how did it get there? Bathtub in bad shape,discolored and chipped with water constantly trickling out with water turned off. They didn't have a shower curtain up. I wouldn't stay there again.And the ice machine on 2nd floor was out of order,had to walk down to 1st floor to get it.Really disappointed in this BW.

  Great service and great experience overall. The rooms were ok, the shower head specifically was leaking a lot of water but other than that the room was very clean and comfortable.
