My family and I checked into this hotel on the night of June 28, 2026, and what should have been a simple stay turned into one of the most disrespectful hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
After checking in, we went to our room and realized that two of our room keys did not work. We went back downstairs to have them reactivated—nothing unusual. While we were at the front desk, an unrelated African American male walked out of the hotel. The front desk clerk immediately assumed this man was with us and accused us of trying to sneak him into our room.
We clearly told him multiple times that we did not know this man, but instead of listening, he escalated the situation, called us liars, and did all of this in front of another guest he had stopped checking in. That alone was humiliating and completely unprofessional.
It got even worse when the clerk called the police based on his own false assumptions. Thankfully, the gentleman later returned and confirmed that he did not know us and had his own room. Even after being proven wrong, the clerk never apologized.
To make matters worse, his response about our room keys was, “Your kids are in the room, so they can just let you in.” That level of disrespect and audacity is unacceptable when I paid my hard-earned money to stay here.
This entire situation was unnecessary, offensive, and felt like profiling. We were only trying to get our room keys fixed. Instead, we were falsely accused, embarrassed, and treated with hostility.
I will never stay at this Holiday Inn Express in Albuquerque again, and as someone connected to the travel industry, I will make sure my clients and colleagues know exactly how guests are treated here.

I loved my recent stay. I understand there was construction on the first floor but didn't mind it since I requested the first floor for easy room access for my senior dog. The front desk staff were amazing as they constantly checked in on me when I passed the front desk. Parking can be a little tight but overall amazing stay. The location is nice since it's right off the freeway.

Tina Marie is absolutely awesome! She is amazingly helpful and friendly, and the epitome of what Customer Service should be. If I ever need a quick overnight hotel, this is definitely the place to stay. *Beware of third-party booking apps as the majority of them show this location has a pool, which it does not. Also, even though third parties say they are paying $27 in state taxes, you may have to pay for them again once at the hotel. Book direct it’s the only way!

The staff at Holiday Inn Express went above and beyond to take care of our needs. I especially want to recognize Tina Marie for making us fill at home, recommending local dining options and helping out in an emergency situation. I just want to say thank you.
