  I’m a Diamond Elite member and have stayed in over 500 IHG hotels. I arrived at this Holiday Inn in New Hampshire around 2am. One of the key published benefits at this level is late checkout, which I rely on when I’m traveling for work. I was told late checkout wasn’t possible because king rooms were supposedly booked up. However, when I checked online immediately afterward, king rooms still showed availability, and there was no indication of sellout or limited inventory in kings for tonight. I’ve attached a screenshot. I had a noon meeting and typically other IHG properties are flexible. For business travelers who plan around published benefits and meeting schedules, it’s important to know that this property does not honor those benefits even when inventory appears open. Wouldn’t stay here again. Poor management

  I am an IHG Platinum member (2,700 nights) as well as Bonvoy Titanium for life (4,200+ nights) so this is not my first rodeo. Holiday Inn Express Durham is almost unique in value for money spent. The hotel is immaculate, climate control spot on, housecleaning staff is attentive, consistent, and thorough. Beds are clean and comfortable. The breakfast served is far better than one could reasonably expect (the Costa coffee is particularly good). Bottom Line: If you travel to Durham, stay here. Period.

  Absolutely fantastic stay. It is clean, well maintained. They went out of their way to make more eggs specifically for my wife when they ran out. SACHIN was kind and curious to everyone.

  The Staff is wonderful. Sachin welcomed me after midnight and gave me his parking space which was a huge help and I was able to check in easily. He helped me get my many disorganized bags to my room so I could crash. He is personable and professional. Shreya has been so friendly, helpful and professional at the front desk with any questions, offering help and making my reservation for my next stay in September.

  Room 106 first impression: They are trying to cover up a horrible mildew smell with air freshener. Either way, the main concern came later on. In the evening, I started to hear footsteps constantly running back and forth in the room above us (I would later discover it was a dog and young kid/s). It was non-stop for over an hour, so I asked the front desk to intervene. They told me they would talk to the room. But, the noise continued after the manager talked to them, so I reached back out to the front desk. Now, the manager assured me that the noise would stop. It didn't, so I asked if we could change rooms. First, the front desk said there were no rooms available. However, the IHG website shows availability; in fact, the IGH site would let me make reservation if I wanted. I showed them the availability on the website, but the manager then said that those were only ADA rooms. So, when I told him that the website said nothing about them being accessible rooms, he then said that he couldn't change our room because the available rooms were not my preferred room type. I told him I didn't care, but he still refused. So, which is it? Are there no rooms available? Are there only accessible rooms? Or, is it just that preferred room type is not available? The noise continued late into the night and started again early in the morning. (I did contact IHG, and they offered 10,000 points. Oh goodness.) It sucks that the manager of the only major hotel in Durham is such a weirdo.
