  We were happy with our stay..The hotel is very clean, staff are friendly, breakfast is a typical buffet, and the bed was super comfy. We did miss the hot tub that is in most holiday inn suites, but the pool was heated and not heavily used. The Lake Mac casino is a short car ride away and Walmart across the street came in handy for us.

  I had the worst experience I've ever had trying to book a room with this hotel. The lady claimed that there was a total of just over $150 of sales tax and lodging taxes on a 2 nights stay with the room rates of $162 per night, total room rates of about $324. Almost 50%....I told her there was no way that was correct and she kept saying that's the taxes, and she could not do anything about it. We went back and forth and I kept saying that can't be accurate. I said I'll pass. Looked it up after I hung up, The true taxes for a room should be just over 12%. Unacceptable.... I usually go out of my way to stay at Holiday Inn Express because I've always had great experiences. But I will go out of my way to tell people to not stay at this hotel.

  Crystal checked me in and was fantastic. She knew about the area, was friendly and helpful. My room was great, nice and quiet, i appreciated that the AC/HEAT unit was easy to operate and ran quietly through the night to keep me comfortable.

  We booked a room and when we walked in to it,it smelled so bad. I went and talked to the gentleman at the front desk and asked if he had any air freshen. He told me no and that even if he did he had already tried it He lso told me that mansgement knew about the smell and had put the room out of service, but told him that night to go ahead and sell it,since they were actually full. he acknowledged that he knew about the smell and had been trying to get rid of it for quite some time. He blamed the smell on a guest that had stayed for an extended time. I think that the sell is from the beds and carpet. The linen smelled fine. Needless to say I couldn't get any sleep. I am a IHG member and I have never run into such a funky smell before.
