This is a clean, quiet hotel right near a major hospital. It’s a safe area, staff is very kind and helpful, and the breakfast is pretty good! And it’s one of the more reasonably priced hotels in the area.

I am a Platinum Elite IHG member. I’ve held an IHG credit card since 2016. I stay at Holiday Inn Express 3-4 nights a week traveling the country. I have never been treated more poorly by any check in staff at any hotel ever. Do not stay here!!! Julia (front desk staff) flat out lied to me when I called for information to decide if they could suit my needs. When I arrived I said I talked to a person named Julie and that she said she could check me into a room early. She said on the phone she had 30 empty rooms the night before and it wouldn’t be a problem. When I said this, Julia, said there was no one there by the name Julie. Two other staff members came out from behind the office door. Then she finally spoke up and said my name is Julia and I didn’t speak to anyone on the phone. Seriously? The general manager stood behind her staff. Then I was told I could only stay there with our licensed Service animal for a non refundable $250 pet fee. I was so disgusted with their hotel which they emphasized was a separate franchise, I stayed at the Best Western. The hotel and staff was outstanding. Stay at the Best Western.

I stay in Wilmington at this hotel 4-5 times per year. I have never had a negative review, but after seeing the front desk receptionist berate me on social media I have decided to give a review.
I'll start by saying the man who works the breakfast area was so polite, prompt to clean tables and very attentive to the buffet.
Then the rest of the story... Sharon at the front desk was so rude I was in tears. I have never experienced such humiliation. I called to book a room prior to my stay. I was told, over the phone by Sharon, that I needed to call ING to book a room. No problem.
Upon arrival as I was waiting to check in, someone ahead of me was inquiring if any rooms were available. He was told no, but Sharon decided to show him the pool, the work out room and explained the kitchen buffet schedule. This took her about 15 min to give her tour. Literally 25 minutes waiting to check in. When she was giving her tour, I decided to sit down in the lobby. When she was free, she asked me if I needed something. I told her I need to check in and she said "If you want to check in you have to get in line". I was the only person that needed to check in, as I was the only one in the lobby.
Due to a family emergency, I needed to see if there was a room available for the next night.
I called ING and booked another night through ING, as I thought that was the right way to go since I was told a few days prior that I needed to book through ING.
The next day, I called the front desk to say I did not need the room to be cleaned as I was staying one more night, but that I would like to get toilet paper. Sharon told me I needed to come down to the front desk because she could not make her cleaning staff stop what they were doing to bring me a roll.
Once I got to the desk, she started the beratement. She said I was supposed to book an extra night at the front desk and not through ING. Every single time I was able to speak one word she would rudely talk over me and she kept getting louder and louder. I finally was able to tell her why I called ING and that I just did what I was told to do previously. She again rudely told me I didn't follow correct procedure and that it "didn't matter" what I "thought" I needed to do. She kept telling me over and over what I should have done and that she was management and adheres to the rules. I apologized and told her the reason I needed a room for that night. She said not her problem and it didn't matter why I was staying and again I didn't follow procedure. I finally broke away with tears running down my face because she was so so so mean about the situation. Later that night I decided I needed to stay another night (hospice issue).I called Sharon and she told me to go to the front desk, that she couldn't take the time at that moment to search vacancies. After watching her sit at a table with guests for 15 minutes, she came over to the front desk. At this time she told me she doesn't have any vacancies. She added that she "ain't losing her job" over me needing to book another night and that I would have to check out at regular time. This was told to me over and over. I never asked for a late check out.
The part that has made me post a review was decided after a guest in the lobby videoed her beratement on my first trip to the front desk when I walked away in tears.
It is on TikTok, FB reel and Instagram and each have a ton of views and comments. I did not know the person videoing. When I was heading to the elevator, the gentleman called out to me and said he felt bad for me and the way I was treated. He told me he had the video for proof of this terrible happening. He asked if I would mind if he posted on social media. I didn't care if he did or not.
My hope is that no one crosses her path and is treated like I was.

Clean modern hotel with good amenities. the staff were friendly and accommodating (Check-in/out, towels, shampoo, etc). The morning breakfast was noticeably better quality than other places. The major part of picking this hotel was the fact that it is a fairly new building and it was very clean. I always saw employees vacuuming and cleaning around the place. I would say this place is worth the money for the stay and is in a prime location for visiting surrounding Wilmington attractions. When it comes to hotels you truly get what you pay for in terms of experience.....this place doesn't disappoint.

Overall, the room was clean and as pictured. The front desk manager Sharon was so incredibly rude- we booked on Expedia as I have over a dozen times previously for other Holiday Inn express hotels and never had an issue. I called on the day of my booking to ask about an early check in (I had a wedding and check in was at 4pm. When I booked the room, the reservationist advised that I call the hotel on the morning of my booking to see if this was possible) Sharon proceeded to cut me off, raise her voice, I couldn’t get a word in, and every single thing I said she replied with “no maam” on volume 100. I’ve worked for hotels in manhattan for the last decade and have my MA in hospitality management. There truly would’ve been so many other ways she should’ve communicated to me that Expedia isn’t ideal and that they needed my contact information and credit card. She said “I was calling you to cancel your booking!” When someone is flying in from out of state and you tell them an hour before booking that you’re canceling? A simple “we need your credit card to confirm this booking, I know you selected to pay at the property upon arrival. Could you please provide your card to get this squared away” would have prevented the entire awful situation. Then at arrival when I had 20 minutes to get ready for the wedding at 4pm she wanted to drill me with the same nonsense about Expedia. On the phone she kept saying “if you pay I’ll get on MY housekeeping to get you in by 3:30” Just terrible verbiage, honestly. Overall, I won’t be back.
