Comy bed, good ac, and a fast check-in experience where my status was recognized. Wi-Fi was less than great but I have yet to find a hotel where it's more than about 20-40 Mb down. Overall, great experience for a frequent business traveller.

We stayed at this Holiday Inn Express for an overnight after driving from Georgia to the Outer Banks of NC. We like the HI Express hotels and stay at them quite often when traveling. This hotel was very nice. I think it was only about 16 years old but appeared like new. The room we had was very nice. Comfy bed. Nice bathroom with thirsty towels.Quiet. A nice flat screen tv.(read advertisement for more descriptions and amenities). The hot breakfast was good, freshly made and maintained, and plentiful. There also was an indoor pool and exercise room. I applaud HI for trimming waste that would end up in landfills. Whether it’s a corporate money saving move or not, I like the fact that they soaps, shampoos, conditioners and lotions are in stationary pump containers instead of little plastic bottles and little soap bars. I’m sure thousands of these things end up in the garbage and landfills each year, and this is only one hotel. Something new I’ve noticed is that now they don’t have coffee machines in the guest’s rooms. Instead they have 24 coffee available in the lobby. And this coffee is made in a terrific machine that makes each individual cup fresh each time. It grinds beans, brews the grounds, then dispenses the coffee. Delicious hot coffee each and every time. What I’m having trouble wrapping my head around is if I like this new coffee idea. Now I just can’t wake up in my room, make a cup of coffee, and drink it watching tv in my pajamas and trying to wake up slowly. And now I need to get dressed, go in the lobby, and if it’s later during breakfast time, I’ll need to wait in line while other guests are getting their 2 minute-to-make fresh coffee. I’m not antisocial, but I’m not ready for small talk to strangers before I have my wake up juice. I have mixed emotions about these machines. It save coffee and waste for the corporation and it saves them time and money instead of having a person make the coffee for the guests. But having hot coffee available in the standard 2-3 gallon urns would speed up the coffee distribution and prevent any impatience, inconvenience, and tension among the guests. ?? This isn’t going to prevent me going to HI Express in the future, but it could . I know it’s only coffee, but it’s the start of everyone’s day and precludes their checking out time. The whole stay experience should be made effortless, convenient and comfortable.

Great spot to stop. Front desk were polite and quick. Room was very clean. My only complaints are the bed is way too high and the toilet is too low! Lol
