I have stayed in many IHG hotels and this hotel is the worst. No water on check-in, vending machine broken, room smelled moldy, TV was tiny and a long ways from the bed, fountain not working in lobby and indifferent clerk. I stayed in the room long enough to find a different hotel and left.
Ive stayed here a couple of times and have usually had a good experience however was staying in the main building. Somehow this time I was in an attached building and describing it as a motel 6 would be an upgrade. Burned furniture with drug residue. Very badly worn furniture and a lack of updating. I felt gross when I left even after a shower amd my lungs still burn from whateverwas in the room. The toilet ran all night from the moment I hit the room and I guess they let dogs in this part because they were barking all night and the smells were a whole other issue. Every time the neighbors would come out of their room to smoke my room would fill with it. The updated entry way and first rooms in that area are just lipstick on a pig

Housekeeping did not do my room the first day and the manager was checking off rooms when I left for the day. Card kept deactivating. Reserved through Sunday. Received a voicemail that I had only booked through Saturday while I was out that day. The only early check in room was two doubles. $125 a night. Hotel has not been updated in quite some time. It was generally adequate and clean, but I think you could stay at any of the newer hotels for a comparable rate.
WARNING TO PARENTS: Severe Safety and Management Failures.
If you are traveling with a family, avoid this hotel at all costs. Our stay resulted in a highly disturbing series of events that management has refused to resolve.
Here are the facts of our stay:
An adult film was shot next door: The room neighboring my children’s room was used to produce a pornographic film all night.
Explicit disruptions until 4:00 AM: My kids were kept awake listening to explicit noises and a director loudly pausing and restarting scenes through the walls.
Hallway disturbances: At 2:00 AM, the production spilled into the public hallway with an actress banging on doors and shouting highly explicit language.
Management knew and did nothing: When I confronted the front office the next morning, they admitted they were already aware of the situation while it was happening—and chose not to intervene.
Corporate victim-blamed minors: When I escalated this to IHG Corporate, the representative had the audacity to blame my kids for "not coming to the front desk sooner." They are children who froze in an uncomfortable situation.
I have yet to receive a refund or an apology. This is a terrible hotel with zero regard for guest safety. Stay away—unless you happen to be in the adult film industry and need a place to shoot where management will look the other way.
EXTREMELY DISTURBING EXPERIENCE AND COMPLETE LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY
My partner and I booked a two-night stay at the Crowne Plaza Hickory from February 27 to March 1, 2026.
On the night of February 28, my partner’s two sons stayed in the room, including a 14-year-old minor. During the entire night, the room next to them was being used to film explicit sexual content. The boys could clearly hear loud sexual dialogue, instructions from the crew, and disturbing noises through the wall for hours. Around 2:00 AM they even heard a woman arrive and make explicit sexual remarks outside the room.
Because of this, they did not sleep at all and came home extremely uncomfortable, embarrassed, and distressed. No guest — and certainly no minor — should ever be exposed to something like this in a hotel environment that is supposed to be safe.
When we contacted the hotel the following day, a staff member acknowledged that a film crew had been present and that the incident had indeed taken place. However, the way the situation was handled afterwards has been completely unacceptable.
We were told that a refund would be issued for the reservation. To this day, we still have not received the refund. During our calls with the hotel we were placed on hold multiple times for long periods of time, promised that someone from management would contact us, and no one ever did.
We also contacted IHG customer service and were again told that the matter would be forwarded to hotel management. More than a week has passed and no one from the hotel has contacted us. We have received no real response, no proper resolution, and no compensation of any kind.
The most frustrating part is not only what happened that night, but the complete lack of responsibility and accountability afterwards. We trusted that this hotel would provide a safe environment for guests. Instead, a very serious situation occurred involving a minor, and the hotel has chosen to ignore our attempts to resolve the issue.
This has been one of the most disturbing and disappointing hotel experiences we have ever had.
What happened that night was disturbing, but the hotel’s complete indifference, broken promises, and refusal to take responsibility afterwards make this one of the most unacceptable hotel experiences we have ever encountered.
