  The front desk man that checked me in was dismissive and tried to make me pay a 100.00 deposit on a room fully paid in advance (bogus charge?) I've stayed here before and was never asked for a deposit. The water temp. in the bathroom was cold to tepid and never got hot.

  Right off the interstate, convenient location, room was clean and organized. I was very impressed, I will be returning for all future stays.

  Poor security, building door locks do not lock, large volume of homeless persons in the area who will freely harass you for money while self admitting they are high, other cartorising open wounds with cigarettes while trying to smoke crack rocks out in the open, prostitution, shopping carts brought to the hotel and them launched into the roadway ditch, other visitors screaming profanities at their young child who was started by a motorcycle. Most of these issues are not the hotel's fault as it is the local community. This is a high crime area and one that I recommend IHG to leave asap to not tarnish their reputation. This location prohibits weapons, but this is an area I wouldn't recommend for anyone to not have protection.

  Dear Candlewood Suites of Durham-Rtp by IHG Extremely disappointing stay unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. I’m usually not one to leave negative reviews, but my experience at Candlewood Suites Durham was disappointing enough that I feel future guests deserve an honest heads-up. For the price, I expected a basic level of cleanliness, comfort, professionalism, and hospitality. Unfortunately, the overall experience fell well below those expectations. Several aspects of the stay left me feeling like the hotel was more interested in collecting payment than making sure guests actually had a pleasant experience. What was especially frustrating was the lack of attention to the concerns I brought up. When you pay your hard-earned money for a hotel room, you shouldn't have to repeatedly explain why something isn't acceptable. A guest should feel heard, respected, and valued not like they're being inconvenient for expecting the services and accommodations they paid for. I’m not expecting a five-star resort. I’m expecting clean, comfortable, properly maintained accommodations and professional customer service. Those are reasonable expectations for any hotel. Unfortunately, this stay was a reminder that a recognizable hotel name doesn't automatically guarantee a quality experience. My honest advice, If you're visiting Durham and have other reputable options within your budget, I would seriously consider those alternatives before choosing this property. Your money is hard-earned, and where you stay should feel worth what you paid. Hopefully management takes these reviews seriously and makes meaningful improvements. Until then, I personally would not return.
