This was the my first time (finally at age 68) to Oxford to visit and tour my deceased father’s beloved Ole’ Miss, where he played football and graduated in 1954. To start, the Oliver is a beautifully decorated boutique hotel. My concerns are on service, specifically first impressions…. the front desk attendant, a man in his late to early 30’s. He was working alongside a female employee who was very sweet and professional. The male employee was aloof and ‘fake’ friendly. As I was going to my room, a female staff member (may have been the manager) walked over to both of the desk employees, berated them and then shouted “do it NOW”! About an hour after I entered my room, I was undressing and a female housekeeping staff member opened my door and began to walk in. Shortly afterwards, my husband had just gotten out of the shower and a male housekeeping or maintenance staff member opened the door and started walking into our room. Both staff walked in unannounced. That was very unsettling. Upon check in, we were given comp cards for “drinks at the bar”. When we handed the cards to the female bartender, she quickly frowned and angrily said “you can’t use those here”. The quality of customer service should equally match the beauty and class of this hotel.
I very much enjoyed an overnight stay here. The staff, from the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping, are exceptional. The bed is by far the best hotel bed I have ever slept on. The linens are soft and fluffy. I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else in Oxford.

I drove in from
Pennsylvania. Long 13 hour drive. Not going into great detail but let me just say ALL the staff and management absolutely have a good heart and care for their guests on a whole different level! If I’m back in the area. I’m driving an hour just to this hotel knowing I’m in the best care! I cannot be more grateful for them wanting me to experience true southern hospitality. Rooms and everything are very clean and just all around the best hotel experience and comfort Iv felt in a place other than my home! Thank you all for your kind hearts
For a five star hotel I am pretty iffy about how to rate. I’d really like to say 3.5 almost 5. Given it’s an older building ( I assume ) the rooms are so tiny. I absolutely LOVE the decor and the woman at the front desk who checked us in with the long brunette hair was so helpful and sweet! Also, a five star hotel I expect at minimal hot water in the sink and a shower that doesn’t take 20 minutes to warm up and then it doesn’t have must adjustment. I will say this it’s a very central location for walking and safe at that! Make sure you ask for a decent view or your view for the price will be pretty lame. The king room you barely have space on each side of the bed and only one side for plug ins. The rest we had to charge near the coffee sink or bathroom. There’s no little desk for work or two girls to split getting ready. That’s a bummer.

The Oliver Hotel is one of the best spots in Oxford! Kingswood Restaurant has become one of my favorite places to go, and I’ve also used the private room for multiple dinners and events. We’ve had the server Angel several times, and she is absolutely phenomenal. I’ve also worked with manager Hannah Holbrook on several occasions, and she is always so professional, organized, and on top of everything. Such a fan of the staff, atmosphere, and overall feel of The Oliver Hotel!
