Tragic events happened here but there's a strength felt from the very stones ...as if they're fulfilling the measure of their creation by just continuing to carry the burden. Learn about the persecution of Joseph Smith and others and the hardship the persecution was on members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Came with tour bus and they handled our group well. Their missionaries were so good and kind to our group.

Tremendous historical site. Came here around 6 PM on a mid June Saturday. Was there like 35 mins. Sisters did a wonderful job describing the sad conditions of the Prophet's dubious incarceration. Accurate relating of the faith it took to endure. Great recreation of the jail housed inside the visitor center. Several artifacts from this time are housed here. Spiritual experience. Highly recommended.
