The Far West Temple Site, located several miles northwest of Kingston, Missouri, is where Latter-day Saints began to build a temple in July 1838. Serving as the Church headquarters for a short time, Far West, in Caldwell County, Missouri, was also the location where the Lord revealed the full name of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and established the law of tithing.
Really only important to the Restoration movement but still a beautiful piece of history for anyone.

This is a very peaceful site for the Far West temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is open to all visitors.
We visited in the middle of May. The temps were in the low 80's, with a breeze blowing. Scattered clouds, green meadows with cows, and scattered farm houses.
The temple site is open year-round. A beautiful iron fence surrounds the temple site with two openings to enter or exit. Glass cases cover the four corner stones. There is a granite monument inside the temple grounds, telling about the dedication of the site.
Next to the temple site, there is an area under the trees with several picnic tables. There is a paved path through the trees to access the tables. Also, adjacent to the tables is a very clean restroom. The building has separate men’s and women’s restrooms. Each room having anywhere from 2 to 4 stalls.
Across the street is another historic site. The Community of Christ has posted a sign telling the history of the town of Far West. There is also a map on the other side of the sign to help you picture the original town site.
