Hotel Indigo Kansas City - The Crossroads takes its inspiration from the city's thriving creative scene by incorporating local artwork throughout its three-story building. The 81 guest rooms of this historically certified, former home of the KC Costume Company, are embellished by custom fabric headboards and specially commissioned art — including a framed paint brush. The latter is a nod to Jim Leedy who in 1985 opened the first gallery in the Crossroads in what was once a paint brush factory. He is among the local creative types who have helped shape the unique experience of staying at the Hotel Indigo Kansas City Crossroads.

Rooms and location are amazing. Front desk staff could definitely use some hospitality training. Bar area is not staffed so cant get anything there. Kitchen is only open for breakfast which is a bit frustrating, especially for the price of the hotel. Being an IHG hotel, I was hoping this hotel would matxh the other Hotel Indigos I've stayed in. Hopefully this place will get better in thr future.

For the price, much about this hotel makes little sense. You have to valet if you want hotel parking, which is fine. But if you are going to do it that way, have a dedicated valet stand at the door. This could easily be done. Instead, you have to get your own luggage out and either truck it up the stairs in front or roll it all the way down the front of the building to a virtually hidden ramp area. The front of the hotel could be made much more easily accessible with a few modifications. They do have a valet driver but he has to drop the keys at the front desk when you want your car. You cannot tip him this way. I noticed this happening and made sure to intercept the valet when he brought out our car and tipped accordingly. Again, a dedicated valet stand would fix this problem and you could have help with your luggage. You could also not tell that the bar was open as the bartender sat in front of the bar and looked like a patron. Not dressed in any kind of uniform. The room layout was also strange (opening the closet cuts off the two room areas making for the potential of hitting someone getting something out of the closet if someone else is trying to enter the bedroom area). Also, you could hear everything happening in adjoining rooms, sound dampening was non-existent. On the positive, location was great, the room was otherwise well appointed, and the shower was excellent. But would only stay again if we could not find a better place close by.

We checked in to find out our room had no AC, upon letting the front desk attendant know he said he would turn it on from the main switch before we returned from our night out (we told him we'd be out 2-3 hours). We returned to him (3 hours later) at the front desk saying "well it will still be hot, i turned it on a few minutes ago". 30 min of sweating in the room later we let him know the temperature hasn't gone down and we'd like to switch rooms in any way possible. He told us it was booked and he couldn't transfer us to another IHG location. The entire time he was being dismissive and saying his supervisor would reach out and tried to not give us his business card because "he'd handle it". He also saw we were looking at the snacks and offered us M&Ms for free as if that made up for everything (he charged us for the M&Ms when we got the online invoice a day after we left, we were willing to pay for the M&Ms it is more an issue of him lying to our faces to get us to go back to our 80 degree room faster). A month later and no one reaching out we reached out to let the supervisor know the issues. 3 months later he responds with a generic "we have shared your feedback with the correct teams and we will be better going forward". We were nothing but polite and patient with the staff even through it all and he was still dismissive and downplayed the fact that trying to sleep in an 80 degree room we paid hundreds for is not okay. Awful experience amplified by awful customer service, we will never be using a Hotel Indigo again and have let several others planning trips to KC to avoid them at all costs. Unfortunate given the location is very good and we've had nothing but great experiences at prior Hotel Indigo stays.

Brides beware!! We were initially excited to book our wedding room block with Hotel Indigo Crossroads because of its convenient location near our venue and the elevated experience it seemed to offer our guests. Unfortunately, the communication throughout the process was incredibly disappointing. We first reached out in May to begin setting up our room block. While I understand that the hotel was busy with World Cup related events, we had to follow up countless times over the course of several months just to receive updates. We didn't receive our contract until the end of July, and nearly three weeks later we were still waiting for the booking link so our guests could begin to reserve rooms. I even called on a Monday and was assured the link would be sent by the end of the day or Tuesday morning. That never happened, and no one followed up or communicated about the delay. Ultimately, we decided to move our room block to another hotel. We were ready to send accommodations information to our guests, and the booking link was the last piece we were waiting on. After the delays and inconsistent communication, we couldn't justify waiting any longer. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future couples. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I can't recommend Hotel Indigo Crossroads for couples looking for a responsive and reliable wedding room block process.
