I think the best part of this hotel was the incredible front desk staff. I had several booking issues and they were stellar in fixing it so I had my 6 needed days! They immediately fixed my days and billing and were so helpful. It ends there.
As far as the hotel itself, the rooms were disappointing. I was expecting a very nice resort style room from the description and photos. The carpets need deep cleaning or replacement everywhere and were always damp& musty and black. My bed was soft. But there were stains on all walls. My ceiling had excessive water damage above my window, with peeling paint, and the room had a general very heavy use look and feel. Had some spiders, crumbling tile, mystery stains, hair in tub/sink. My doors were hard to close and I had issues opening the one from the inside hall. I did find the hanging soaps had a weird curdled look because they just refill them over and over instead of fresh mini bottles. Avoided that. My AC was ice cold the way I like it, fridge worked. But I had no microwave. I had to take the elevator to another floor to use the single dirty little microwave available for two whole floors outside the pool area. They need to be placed on each floor. I gotta say, sadly, it was run down.
I did like the location and double door easy access to my car, there was a lovley lawn if you have pets or kids. I went twice to the restaurant and nobody ever greeted me and I eventually sat down and still nobody came. So I just avoided it the next 5 days and ordered out. There is a six flags shuttle, driver is nice. Pet friendly.
I think the biggest issue I had was the pool area. While the pool is huge with lots of fresh towels- the unattended, unchecked children were horrible. There is absolutely no time when adults can enjoy it despite their one hour rule. I saw a small toddler under age 3 alone in the 9ft deep pool & hottub for 3 hours and had to report it. There is no life guard btw. I have no clue where this baby's mother was but he was in the deep end around boisterous, large older kids who were endlessly jumping, diving and pushing each other in.I know people are going to say kids are kids. But this was chaos. It's horrible. I feel like the hotel should have immediately removed him or at least found his mother. But, nobody did anything. Additionally, nobody enforces saftey so you have 20 kids cannon balling or jumping on top of you all the time. I was slapped in the face twice when kids hitting each other with 6ft long pool noodles. A rule that parents must accompany kids at all times needs to be enforced otherwise its not enjoyable at all. This hotel needs to remember adults pay for these rooms, and stop catering to unruly brats. Also, a lot of small children swam in the hot tub constantly alone, including two pre-teen 12 yr old boys with scuba masks/ flippers. It's not big enough for that, but they were there anyway, kicking water in your face and getting too close to stare at your body underwater. It was very inappropriate. Its really unsafe. At $200 a night it's a bummer. Unfortunately, there was black stuff floating in the hot tub and 4 days later it was still in there, so I dont know about the cleanliness. I went home with an eye infection. My daughter wanted me to switch hotels but I was charged IN FULL on day two.
I would say though that due to staff, I felt safe traveling alone. I didn't use housekeeping. I was very pleased with how quiet it was at night. You cannot hear outside freeway traffic.
There is also an arcade, shuffleboard, a bunch of seating areas and a little tiki bar but I didnt like that non guests could sit there drinking looking at children. I would also mention the movie rentals are almost $30 so you may want to have a DVD player with you, the tv has hookups for that and gaming systems.
So I'd give it a 3 out of 5 for location, staff, convenience. They need to renovate or lower prices. It's just really run down. Believe the reviews.
