  So the room was clean, Badlands change bathroom look good. But the fixtures in there need to be replaced. The bed was fine and the pillows were great actually. But all the dressers in the wardrobe were chipped up pretty bad and the mini fridge had rust which was weird. The lady at the front desk was super nice. I really appreciated that. I wanted to sleep in so I don't know how breakfast was but they're usually okay at Best Western. The location was really good it's directly off the highway there's a gas station on the same property and then across the street there's another gas station Wendy's and McDonald's. We went to the pool, there are trees around it and it's outdoors so you know it really wasn't that clean. Somebody was out there trying to clean it up though I will say that. It's nobody's fault it's just outside. Oh one more thing about the rooms the carpets were really clean too.

  Reserved a non-smoking room online. When we got there we were given the room key to 157. When we tried getting in the room the door would not unlock and it clearly looked like someone was already in it - curtains drawn, do not disturb & pets inside notice on outside door. Went back to lobby and advised staff who came and checked and indeed someone was in that room who was supposed to be in the one next door. Staff gave us the room next to the one we were supposed to get. This was CLEARLY a smoking room as the entire room smelled like someone had smoked in it for 50 years. Our bedding stank of smoke and was very musty, it was permeated through the whole room. When you yawned you could literally taste the stink in your mouth. The room itself was very run down with broken furniture and even a fly swatter on the wall like a piece of artwork. The bathroom mirror was missing, the desk drawer was missing. The toilet seat was peeling and looked like cracks had been repaired. The front door was dirty and peeling. The thermostat was broken on the side. The beds were on cheap metal frames that moved sideways when you moved and the mattresses felt like they were 2x4's. There were tons of bugs inside the light fixture. Our plug in on the desk didn't work. The chair in the corner was full of stains. I have never stayed in a hotel as badly run down as this one and it made you feel gross being in it. We ended up staying in room 158 after the room we reserved had someone else in it already. Just being in the room for the overnight - our belongings still smelled like musty, old cigarette smell after getting home. We didn't even eat the free breakfast as we just wanted out of there as quickly as possible. The only good part of the experience was the lady working the desk was very sweet and very apologetic for the mix-up with the rooms as she had no idea why that would have happened.

  I stayed here a night booked through expedia had wrong date front desk lady Jennifer and the guy working was so helpful to get it changed. Room was clean smelled good. It was quiet and I got a good night sleep. Staff was friendly. Shout out to front desk Jennifer and guy working with her on making me feel welcome. I would definitely stay here again

  Would have been ideal…had a wedding to attend 15 mins away and originally booked a multiple night stay with multiple rooms. We all left after one night and opted for a better hotel nearly an hour out of the way. Rooms were dirty, floors were uneven, beds were awful. “ pool” is a joke. It’s a glorified motel 6 at best. Very disappointed. Save yourself the headache

  We love staying at vintage motor inns, but unfortunately this one was a major disappointment. I'm honestly surprised it has a 4.0-star rating based on our experience. Location is close to I-35, but you have to go through a run down gas station parking lot to get to the hotel, which sets you up for the next disappointment: the room. We were assigned a room that was clearly a smoking room, even though we never requested one. The smoke odor was so overwhelming that we left all of our luggage in the car to keep it from absorbing the smell. Since this was the first night of a two-week road trip, that was a huge inconvenience. The room also had a significant fly problem, and we ended up using the fly swatter that was provided multiple times. Overall, the room was very worn. The desk was broken, the chair was badly stained, and even the shower curtain had mold stains. I had seen reviews about "updated rooms", but it can't be for this hotel. The only positive thing I can say is that the bed was comfortable. Breakfast wasn't the worst and what I would expect for a SureStay. We've stayed at other SureStay properties before and had great experiences, so this stay was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, this experience has made us very hesitant to book another SureStay in the future.
