HotelWedding VenueConference CenterBusiness Meeting LocationsHotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo Minneapolis Downtown is proud to be a 2025 IHG Torchbearer Award recipient—an honor reserved for the top IHG hotels recognized for exceptional service, quality, and guest satisfaction. Located in the historic Northstar Center, our newly reimagined hotel blends modern comfort with the vibrant spirit of 1960s Minneapolis. Opened in 1963 as the city’s first mixed‑use development, Northstar Center embodied mid‑century ambition with its offices, retail, and the celebrated Northstar Inn. The hotel quickly became a hub for travelers, conventions, and civic life, known for its sleek architecture and its role in launching the Minneapolis skyway system. Designed as a “city within a city,” the complex linked the Cargill and Pillsbury buildings and represented a new era of connected urban living. Today, we honor that legacy with a refreshed space that nods to its iconic past. Explore Nicollet Mall, Loring Park, and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Catch a show at the Orpheum, State, or Pantages Theatres, or visit legendary music venues like First Avenue and The Armory. Whether you're here for a conference, a game, or a nostalgic getaway, our downtown location puts you at the center of it all—with easy access to the Metro Light Rail, MSP Airport, the Mall of America, and the University of Minnesota.

This is our third time staying at hotel indigo and our first time staying 2 nights. We booked a standard king with a city view with the breakfast included. There was some discrepancy with the room, but Joseph fixed this right away and we were happy with the rest of the stay. The breakfast rate is your choice of entree and a juice or coffee for up to 2 people. It was a wonderful deal. Their food is delicious and if we lived in Minneapolis we would likely eat there even if we weren't hotel guests. I would recommend the Earth Bowl. My husband loves their pancakes. The second night we were tired and decided to order room service. We both got the NY strip dinner. This came with croquette potatoes and green beans. We also got 2 drinks, summer heat and an espresso martini. The presentation was lovely, food was kept hot, steak was cooked to perfection, everything seasoned well and the drink presentation was wonderful. Front desk is always amazing and friendly. They usually have a complimentary cocktail available at check in which is maybe my favorite little extra that this hotel offers. We love the decor of the rooms, the beds are always comfortable. We had a great view of the city. The shower head is one geared toward people who like the feeling of being in a rain shower. It's not high pressure. I don't mind this, but some might. The rooms have always been cleaned to our liking, TV quality is great. I really cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It's maybe our favorite that we have ever stayed at and will always be our hotel when we come to the city. Thanks so much to all of the staff who make our stays pleasant and warm.

Checked In at 3:45 and no room type under my reservation was available. Asked for housekeeping and saw the guy wrote down my room number, but nothing was done when I came back at night. Skinny black guy wearing a glasses worked on 8/30 afternoon was super unfriendly and rude. After I addressed that, he had an even worse attitude when I purchased two fridge magnets that night. Blood clot on the shower floor, I still have a photo of it, my feet wiped some of it which was disgusting. Air conditioner was really loud and I believe this place does not meet the standard of a four star hotel. I will still consider Hotel Indigo by IHG just because of Sampaguita was continuing doing the right thing and the one at Atlanta Downtown was a way better place to stay.

The Illusion of Hospitality and "Budget Luxury" in Downtown Minneapolis When considering a stay at the Hotel Indigo, the primary question is- what justifies staying here instead of the Convention Center HIE Downtown two blocks away? Sadly, the answer is resounding- nothing. Nothing in particular went wrong with my stay, but when a hotel charges a premium because it advertises as a "boutique" location, the little things matter- and it's clear management at this location is complacent and satisfied with coasting along on the bare minimum. The decoration is hackney- cheap, gaudy wallpaper lines the halls in an attempt to trick you that the walls are carpeted. The photo in the bathroom is literally just an image somebody pulled off the internet and blew up 300% then framed. It's incredibly tacky and exposes the cheap shortcuts Hotel Indigo has taken to lessen the guest experience. The power strip for the coffee maker was literally just dangling because the cord wasn't long enough- nobody ever thought "maybe that's a bad look for our overpriced hotel"? The most insulting part of the experience was that Hotel Indigo uses the exact same single-ply toilet paper as HIE. The wildly overpriced restaurant was fine, nothing exceptional but your typical hotel fare. The only reason to stay at this hotel is location, and honestly, if you're looking for a view, I hope you like abandoned office buildings and construction sites. There's no reason to waste your money at this location when there are dozens of far superior hotels within walking distance.

On a cross-country road trip and chose Hotel Indigo for our Minneapolis stay, and so glad we did! It's a gorgeous, secure, upscale hotel with beautiful finishings and decor. From the lobby to the cute little business area / book nook, to the spaciousness and cleanliness of the rooms -- we are impressed! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Upon our arrival (which was following a 10+ hour drive from Montana 🥴) we were warmly welcomed with cold Fiji water bottles by a woman at reception (she's a keeper and I hope management knows what a gem they have in her). The actual room was nearly perfect. Great city view, comfy beds, clean, beautifully decorated, and one of the best showers I've had while on the road. Excellent water pressure and shower products. The location is excellent! We walked all over downtown last night, exploring... even walked down to the river. The building itself is connected to the famous skywalk system. Self Parking is conveniently connected to the building and is $30 a day, with elevators that bring you directly into the hotel. While we had a quite unfortunate experience at the attached restaurant (I counted 9 bones in a single bite of fish and both the server and manager gaslighted me into thinking that was normal and acceptable -- it's not) that does not affect my opinion of the hotel itself and I'll leave my review of the restaurant separately... Thanks for such a wonderful stay, Hotel Indigo! If we ever make our way back to your lovely city, we'll stay here again! Note: the plastic corner wall piece in the entryway of the room was leaning off the wall when we arrived. We alerted the front desk so we would not be charged for damaging it. Looks like it came unglued or something but was like that upon arrival. Just FYI! :)
