I arrived check in was confusing, they don’t tell you it’s two hotels in one. The fact that they held a $200 deposit was crazy, but the fact that I selected to have breakfast in the griffin and was overlooked for almost an hr was disgusting. How clear the racism was needs to be brought to media attention. I waited over an hr for breakfast I prepaid for and ordered. I was over looked and both waiters(white men) overlooked me and left me there until i spoke up. Every other person was served but me of color. Oh and again the price of rooms was not right, smelled liked feet and it wasn’t up to par. Get more servers and the racism is really lout I ended up leaving. Never got my breakfast, nothing smh very disappointing. No black person should ever spend money here im going to check out now and leave I had two days I refused to be treated like this

I stayed here from July 26 to Aug 1, 2026. The facility is new, shining, great location. Upon our arrival, Matt (FD) was nice and accommodating. The Griffin restaurant, operated by a third-party, only had 1 waitress. She got busy and her attitude turned rude and disrespectful very fast, most of all if your skin is dark. The quality of the food was good, but it took +40 min to get a plate. During the week, my party and I constantly struggle to get the room cleaned. Every afternoon, we informed Ryan (FD), he apologized nicely and offered to send the maid. We saw other guests reporting the same issue. By Friday, my colleagues were fed of the restaurant and cleaning situations, so they decided to check out early. Surprisingly, they had breakfast fees (when it was included in the reservation) and tip charges made by the waitress without authorization. I checked my account and had the same. We requested to talk to the Manager after work. Maher (Manager) listened carefully, apologized and offered compensation. My colleagues did leave and I stayed as planned. On Saturday, the waitress approached to me and demanded: 'are you happy now after complaining about me?', she repeated it several times with a distorted face. I stood up and went to the Front Desk asking for help. Ryan apologized and asked a guy from the kitchen to give the service. During check out, I still had the fraudulent breakfast and tip charges, Ryan promised to delete them upon Maher's arrival. I really hope Maher was able to see the video footage of this incident. The place is beautiful for sure, IHG staff is nice and they do have some housekeeping managerial issues that can be fixed, but I truly think the third-party restaurant situation does not make the facility look good. My colleagues and I have never experienced something like this before and I hope, never again.

This hotel is really great. The staff are very kind and take good care of you. The hotels located in a really nice area with restaurants. The breakfast at the hotel was amazing, they have a great gym and a pool. We like to try different hotels and not repeat the same one, but this is one of those few hotels we would definitely stay at again.

I was a little skeptical about a hotel that looked so nice in photos for less than $200 a night in this area. But in the end, the room was great, well-equipped, decorated, and recently renovated. I’m not giving it a 5 stars because of its proximity to the road and poor soundproofing.

I stayed at Even's Hotel in Troy, Michigan, for three nights. Unfortunately, what began as a minor inconvenience turned into one of the most hostile and unprofessional customer service experiences I have ever encountered. My first impression of the property wasn't great. The entrance to Even's Hotel is shared with Hotel Indigo, yet there was no visible signage directing guests to Even. There were no instructions or signage to indicate where to check in. Although this was only a minor inconvenience, it proved to be an early indication of the lack of attention to the guest experience. I ate breakfast at the Griffin hotel restaurant. After waiting approximately twenty minutes, my breakfast arrived completely cold. A replacement meal arrived within a reasonable amount of time and was warm enough to appear freshly prepared but missing the cheese I ordered. Since I had already sent my meal back once, I chose not to complain again and simply ate what I had been served. The waitress informed me there was a charge for cheese because the cook insisted he had added it. I explained that I had received no cheese that I could see or taste and politely asked for the charge to be removed, a $4 charge for cheese that, as far as I could tell, did not exist. I placed a $20 bill in the check presenter, fully intending to pay ONLY for everything I had actually received. Instead of resolving a simple billing dispute professionally, the cook came to my table and immediately became argumentative. Rather than acknowledging the concern or simply removing a $4 charge, the cook became increasingly confrontational. I requested to speak with a manager, he didn't bring one. Instead, he returned with the manager's business card. Rather than allowing the issue to be handled by management, the cook escalated the situation even further. While I was quietly finishing my coffee, he returned and ordered me to leave the restaurant immediately and he had called the police. He ignored those concerns entirely and tried walking me to the front desk, a gesture that felt less like customer service and more like intimidation. At that point, I welcomed the police response because I wanted an independent record of what was taking place. I went to the hotel's front desk where I encountered, a representative that was courteous, respectful, and professional. She contacted the hotel manager. Within minutes, the manager arrived and immediately informed me that I would indeed be checking out—but that I would not be receiving any refund. There was no attempt to understand what had happened. There was no effort to hear both sides. There was no interest in resolving the dispute. The decision appeared to have already been made before any conversation even began. The police arrived and after speaking with the restaurant staff, the officers informed me that the restaurant considered the payment issue resolved and had no further complaint. The officers then spoke at length with hotel management, including the General Manager by telephone. Only after those conversations did the officers return and inform me that I would not have to leave after all and that I could remain in my room for the remainder of my stay. The fact that it required police intervention to convince hotel management to honor a reservation that had already been paid for speaks volumes about how this situation was handled. What is most disturbing is not the missing cheese or the disputed $4 charge. It is how quickly the cook chose confrontation over customer service. It is how readily management supported escalating the situation instead of attempting to resolve it. It is that both the cook and hotel management appeared far more interested in "winning" an argument than treating a paying guest with fairness, professionalism, or basic respect. I cannot recommend Even's Hotel, Griffin Restaurant, Hotel Indigo, or any affiliated property. I will never return, and I would encourage prospective guests to consider carefully how they might be treated if they encounter even the smallest disagreement during their stay.
