All of the staff were extremely polite and friendly, the room was very clean and modern. The property is well lit and well maintained as well.
Easy check-in/out. Less than 5 minutes drive from shopping/dining.
We got to the hotel around 9:30 pm. I had prepaid for a room - a King with foldout couch for my kids - direct on the Holiday Inn website. We were given some keys to a room and when we went up there, the room was already occupied. We went back downstairs and the front desk person said that someone earlier in the day had been letting people into rooms without marking them in the system. He assigned a new room, but first went upstairs to check that the room was unoccupied. It was, but it wasn't the room type we paid for. He could only offer us a King room - no foldout couch. He said he'd find a rollaway bed, though.
After an hour, my husband went downstairs to see where things with the rollaway bed and the original person looking for it wasn't there. A new front desk person said he'd look but didn't know where they were kept. My husband returned another 30 minutes later and was told nobody knew where rolling beds were kept. We did receive extra blankets, though, so my kids could sleep on the floor.
In addition to the room assignment issues, the lobby reeked of rotten eggs. There was an extra bottle of shampoo left on the counter (not a big deal, of course). There was a wall sconce without a cover and some of the outlets didn't work. Additionally, the walls were threadbare and at 11:30 pm, we could plainly hear the people in the halls and the rooms on either side of us.
On the plus side, we did get a room. People arrived after us only to be told the hotel couldn't honor their reservations because they were sold out.

Ok, so I will say the shower in the room was nice, glass doors walk in, no disgusting shower curtain decent water pressure. Buts that where the good ends. There was a sticky hand print in the headboard that I had to clean off upon arrival, after a little trouble at check in, we arrived late and had notified them via email in advance we would be, but they had us already checked in and it took a while to straighten that out in the computer. Now let's talk about the breakfast or more accurately the lack there of. No orange juice, no decaf, no fresh fruit, no pancakes( although the machine had the nicest temporarily out of order sign of the bunch) and no cinnamon rolls which was the only thing my girlfriend really wanted. All that was available was oatmeal, biscuits and gravy, soaked in grease sausage patties, scrambled eggs that I believe started as a powder that morning and toast. When i enquired if there would be any cinnamon rolls available the woman working was a little more curt than I would be with an expired safe serve certificate. But just a few minutes drive away there is an amazing pastry shop called sweetwater's doughnut mill that has cinnamon rolls the size of a plate and many other excellent choices. Back to the holiday Inn, rest of the staff was reasonably friendly, I was a little confused by the barefoot housekeeper. Parking isn't bad, slightly confusing which hotel is which as two holiday inns share the parking lot. I have included photos of the various out of order signs they have from the quickly made to the professional made with its own wooden stand because I don't think the pancake machine ever works.

One star, and only because zero is not an option.
I booked this room a week in advance for my disabled wife and her sister. They flew into Detroit and drove two hours to get here. When they walked up to the front desk after a full day of travel, the clerk informed them that their room had been given away to someone who paid more.
Read that again. Not overbooked by accident. Given away for a better rate.
The man behind the desk did not apologize in any meaningful way. He did not call another property. He did not offer a shuttle, a discount, a phone number, or so much as a bottle of water. He handed two exhausted women, one of them disabled, back into the parking lot at midnight and went on with his night.
They spent the next two hours calling hotels and driving in the dark. At 3 a.m. they gave up and drove all the way back toward Detroit, where the only thing available was in an area no one would choose to be in alone at that hour. That is what this hotel decided was an acceptable outcome for a guest with a confirmed reservation.
A reservation is a promise. This location treats it as a placeholder they can sell to the highest bidder. If your travel plans involve anyone with mobility needs, anyone traveling alone, or anyone who cannot afford to be stranded, do not book here. Your room is not your room until you are standing in it, and if someone waves more money at them, you are the one sleeping in your car.
I have stayed at IHG properties for years. After this, never again.

I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of my room. When I arrived, there was already trash in the trash can, which immediately made me question whether the room had been properly cleaned. There were also large dirt spots on the bed that looked as though the sheets or comforter had not been changed between guests. On top of that, the floor appeared as though it hadn’t been vacuumed.
Cleanliness is one of the most basic expectations when staying at a hotel, and unfortunately, this room did not meet that standard. I hope management addresses these issues with housekeeping to ensure future guests have a much better experience.
Hotel has a very strong sewer smell. Most of the guests were staying downstairs at the bar because the smell was so bad. It’s been progressively getting stronger the later it got. To the point where it’s giving me a horrible headache.
