  Hotel in its entirety was clean and well kept from what I saw, breakfast on a weekend was adequate and better than some other local hotels I’ve stayed at. Highly recommend local restaurants like: The Ambassador, Suomi, The Fitz in Eagle River, Milly’s in Hancock, and Keweenaw Brewing Co. Downsides: the room door and bathroom door did not shut completely without having to hip-check them. My biggest issue with this property is the complete lack of soundproofing. You can hear everything going on in the hallways through the door, and even have a full fledged conversation with someone from 30ft away while they’re on the other side of said closed door and in the hallway. Kids being loud (not screaming) in the hallways very early in the morning is mostly the fault of the parent(s), but with the complete lack of insulation here, I can’t say it’s not at least in part because of the hotel’s construction. If you are a light sleeper, I would advise trying a different hotel as there seemingly isn’t a solid location in this one where you won’t have better odds at peace. (The lobby is 2 stories and open to the second floor hallway, which doesn’t help.)

  Pool testroom access could be considered an exit violation. Access back to the pool from bathroom requires key card . There is a exit to hall but if you dont have key card you cant get back in the door to the pool. Should be better markings on an alternate door access to hall but also will require key card. At about 10 pm went to bathroom and couldnt get out. Thought i might be lovked in bathroom till next morning. Pounded hard on door several times but no response, no phone. Admittedly I mistakingly thought the other door was a supply/janitor room. Also if you are in room 130 be orepared to be woken up all night because the exercise room and side exit are open 24 hrs per day. All for the price of one night nearly $300. Couldnt use points or points plus cash even though booked 3/4 weeks in advance. Check out other hotels like Hampton inn that has nice water biews.
