Nice hotel overall, and centrally located to downtown Charlevoix.
Rooms were clean and spacious, with included coffee and water, along with the usual inclusions of ice bucket, desk and chair, TV, etc
Reception area contains a bar area (Lo Bar) with lounge seating available. There's another bar located on the rooftop (Hi Bar) of the hotel that is open until 11pm with ample seating and views looking across the surrounding area
Only downside is the amount of available off-street parking. Though parking is included with your stay, because i arrived around 9pm the entire lot was full so I was forced to park on the street adjacent to the hotel. There was no cost for street parking.

We used Hotel Earl as our base to explore the region for 5 days. Perfect location for heading to Traverse City, Torch Lake, Boyne Mountain and Petosky area. Enough restaurants to hit one each night. Downtown Charlevoix is easy to manage and perfect for a slow-paced vibe.

Terrific hotel. Rooms, atmosphere, lobby seating/relaxing area, rooftop deck with bar providing a terrific lake view and friendly staff are top notch. A short walk to all of Charlevoix' activities. We found a small issue with the shower door sticking. After telling the staff, it will be fixed, pronto. Very enjoyable stay.

We chose The Earl because of its excellent location and the rooftop bar with beautiful views. Both lived up to expectations. Unfortunately, almost everything else fell well short of what should be expected from a hotel charging over $600 per night.
The room itself was acceptable, but the housekeeping was not. The mirrors had not been cleaned, the bathroom floor was dirty, and on one day our beds were not even made until we requested service. These are basic standards, not luxury amenities.
The room also needs attention. The pillows were flat and overdue for replacement, and the beverage refrigerator made enough noise throughout the night to disrupt our sleep.
The biggest issue, however, was the construction of the hotel. The walls are so thin that we could clearly hear conversations in the adjoining rooms, and every footstep from the room above was impossible to ignore. For a hotel at this price point, adequate soundproofing should be expected.
The Earl has an outstanding location and a lovely rooftop bar, but those positives do not justify the premium rates being charged. We left feeling that we had paid luxury prices for an experience that fell well below luxury standards. Until management addresses the housekeeping, maintenance, and soundproofing issues, I cannot recommend it at this price.

I honestly can’t believe I’m writing this because I’m not someone who typically complains, but the service at this hotel has been appalling.
When we checked in, we were told there would be a DJ at the rooftop bar on the fourth floor. What we were not told was that, because of a light drizzle, the hotel would move an entire wedding welcome party into the lobby—directly outside our room. Had we known that was even a possibility, we would have immediately requested a different room.
It is now 10:00 PM, and our room is being shaken by blasting music, a DJ, and dozens of loud, intoxicated guests. When I finally reached the front desk, I was told the party would continue until 11:00 PM and that there was “nothing they could do,” despite the fact that the hotel made the decision to relocate the event into the lobby.
We paid nearly $900 for a single night. We are from Chicago and have stayed in countless luxury hotels that cost significantly less and provided far better service and consideration for their guests. Instead of operating like a luxury hotel, Hotel Earl is treating its lobby like a college fraternity house, with no regard for guests who paid a premium expecting a peaceful stay.
To make matters worse, the hotel offered a $100 discount, which frankly feels insulting. I’m still paying approximately $800 for a room next to a loud party that the hotel itself chose to move.
I’ve stayed in budget hotels that handled guest comfort more professionally than this. For a property charging luxury rates, this level of service is completely unacceptable.
Hotel Earl, you need to do better.
