I’m only giving this hotel one star because the system requires me to give at least one. This was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. Had I known there was a Holiday Inn Express less than half a mile away, I would have stayed there instead.
I booked this hotel for three nights. When I arrived around 4:30 PM, my two sons came inside with me while I checked in. Three men who appeared to work at the hotel were standing there, staring at me and looking me up and down in a way that made me extremely uncomfortable. When my sons noticed what was happening, they immediately stepped between the men and me One of my sons literally said to him “can I help you with something” and the men turned around And went into our room That was my first impression of this hotel, and unfortunately, things only got worse.
I was initially given room 128. When we opened the door, the room was absolutely disgusting. There was garbage throughout the room, and what appeared to be soda or another substance had been sprayed on the walls and lampshades. We never stepped inside before closing the door and returning to the front desk. Check-in was supposed to be at 3:00 PM, and I arrived at 4:30 PM, so there was no reasonable excuse for the room to have been left in that condition.
I then had to wait approximately 20 minutes while the front desk employee called a manager for permission to move me to another room. I was given room 120. Unfortunately, that room was unacceptable in a completely different way. The smell of mold and mildew coming from the room was absolutely horrendous.
When I complained, I was told the smell was caused by humidity and that they would spray the room with Febreze, Lysol, and whatever else they could use. I have a breathing condition, and I was absolutely not comfortable staying in a room that smelled strongly of mold and mildew.
I gave them another chance and returned later that evening as I was crunched for time. The smell was still so strong that I went back to the front desk and asked the employee on duty to come smell the room himself. He wouldn’t even go near the door. That spoke volumes to me.
I was eventually moved to a third room upstairs. Thankfully, that room smelled okay and was reasonably clean. After two unacceptable rooms, I was relieved to finally have somewhere I could stay.
The buffet I was told was from 6 to 9 AM a.m. not a buffet. The only thing that was available was toast regular coffee, Two cereals that only had about one bowls Worth in the machine and a waffle machine, and a bottle of orange juice. When buffet was mentioned, I at least expected to have decaf coffee as well or eggs or something
Considering everything that Had happened , You think I would’ve at least been offered a discount on the rooms something from my trouble, but I was not instead I was the one made to run back-and-forth, even though I had at one point, asked the gentleman at the counter to check the room. He was sending me to before I got there and he just didn’t answer me and gave me another key card. The other hotels in the area were full, so I was stuck with what I got. Very disappointing truly disappointing. I am grateful to be leaving tomorrow. I will never be staying at this place ever again and I don’t recommend it to anyone
The only person I apologize to is the lady that was at the desk on the night that I had to get key cards again, by that point I had lost my call and I pretty much told her off. It wasn’t her fault and I know that, but I was so frustrated and It was only the second day. I apologized. She told me she didn’t take any of it personally and she apologized for what I went through, but that’s all I got. I stay at many hotels for business and this Was hands-down, my worst experience so far
