Extremely Poor Experience, Serious Health Concerns, MICE and RODENT ISSUES!
My recent stay at the Staybridge Suites Washington D.C. – Greenbelt by IHG was deeply disappointing and, frankly, unacceptable.
On our second night, we discovered a mouse running through the kitchen area of our room. We immediately notified the front desk and were told someone would come assist. About an hour later, maintenance arrived—not to relocate us—but to place rodent traps inside our room. We were then expected to continue staying there under those conditions.
The following day, the hotel called saying they were “booked” but would try to move us. However, we were in town for a major family event—my graduation—which required us to leave shortly. With five people staying in one room, we explained that we did not have time to pack up and relocate. Despite that, they continued to push a room change instead of offering a practical or immediate solution. We ultimately had no choice but to endure four nights with rodent traps in our room, constantly worried about rodents entering our luggage.
Even more concerning, I later noticed similar rodent traps hidden under the coffee station near the front desk on the first floor—something I had seen at check-in but didn’t initially recognize. This strongly suggests the hotel was already aware of an ongoing rodent issue while continuing to accept reservations.
Other issues made the stay even worse:
Our room was not ready at check-in and, when we finally got in, it was 80°F.
Maintenance had difficulty locating the HVAC unit and commented that the systems “are always breaking.”
The air filter was visibly filthy and had to be changed.
The room did not cool down until the following evening.
General cleanliness throughout the property was poor.
A maintenance/storage room near the elevator remained open for days, with visible trash bags.
One elevator was broken and taped off, forcing all guests to crowd into a single working elevator.
Housekeeping staff frequently crowded into the elevator with guests, making it uncomfortable and inconvenient.
After checkout, I spoke with a manager, Angie, who acknowledged the situation and apologized. She initially offered a one-night refund, which is completely inadequate given the severity of the experience, including the health risk posed by rodents. I requested a full refund for all four nights. She stated she would escalate the matter to the General Manager—but several days later, I have received no follow-up despite her promise.
Due to the seriousness of the rodent issue, I have reported the property to the local health department.
This experience fell far below basic hospitality standards. Between the rodent issue, poor maintenance, lack of cleanliness, and inadequate response from management, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone—especially families.

Beautiful suites with kitchens that have full size refrigerators, granite countertops with backsplash, microwave, 2 burner electric cooktop. Coffee and coffee pot, silverware and plates. A very comfortable queen sized bed, sofa, and TV.
We had a two bedroom suite. It was clean, 3 beds and a pullout couch, fridge stove dishwasher. Showers were great. Soap was great. Breakfast stayed stocked and attended. Workers always friendly. Free laundry facilities. Housekeeping was on top of it. Quiet.
We will stay here whenever we are in town with the family.
Only downside was no pool, both treadmills did not work and parking was a challenge a couple nights but they even have parking lot security. Overall nice stay.
Loved the space that the 2 bedroom suite offered. A perfect layout for a family of 4. The bathrooms are stocked with dove lotion, shower gel, shampoo, ans conditioner. The kitchenette was loaded with dishes, nice pots and pans for use. I only wished that they had smart tvs to access netflix or Amazon for movies. Breakfast in the am offered nice choices with a turkey sausage option, make your own waffle station, cereal station, and oatmeal. They even had my favorite coffee mate creamer in different flavors serving all day. Overall, it was a nice stay and I am definitely looking for Staybridge suites wherever I travel from this point on.

We had the best stay!! We arrived 9am on Sunday fm Vegas! Jet lagged and definitely tired the manager gave us at 12 noon check in instead of 3pm. 2 bottles of water for free and allowed us to rest in an area with a sofa and chair/ottoman. The room was spacious, clean, with a kitchenette and a large sofa. Full buffet breakfast every morning and a social hour 3 nights with appetizers and free drinks and 🍷wine! What more can you ask for? The staff was sooo professional. We would definitely stay at this Staybridge again. I have stayed at other staybridge locations, but this one was the best. Thanks to the manager for letting us check in 3 hrs early. He was a true blessing 🙌🏾 🙏🏽
