  Great place to hang out. Quiet clean rooms. Walking distance to breakfast, lunch or dinner. Breakfast is full of variety for most palates. Staff is very friendly and helpful

  Review of Holiday Inn Express – California, Maryland My family recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in California, Maryland for a family reunion. While the hotel itself was clean and the bathrooms were well maintained, our overall experience was overshadowed by the way we were treated by management. We reserved one of the banquet/conference rooms for a family meet-and-greet and were initially told we had the room from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. During our gathering, a red-haired manager, who I believe was named Michelle, approached us and said we were being too loud. We were simply visiting with family, playing low-volume music, and enjoying each other’s company. There was no disruptive behavior. Despite our original agreement, we were told we had to end our event early at 9:30 p.m. We felt this was unfair and unnecessary. There were also issues with guest rooms. Several members of my family were told when booking that adjoining rooms would be available. However, upon arrival, they were informed that the hotel did not have adjoining rooms at all. Interestingly, members of the housekeeping staff stated that adjoining rooms do exist. Receiving conflicting information only added to our frustration. Throughout our stay, many interactions with management felt dismissive and condescending. Simple questions or requests were often met with attitudes that made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than valued guests. On our final day, we asked if a few rooms could have a late checkout. We were told that wasn’t possible because the hotel was expecting a large number of arrivals that day. However, after we checked out, there were only about four cars in the parking lot besides our family’s vehicles, making that explanation difficult to understand. The most concerning part of our stay occurred while we were waiting in the lobby for the banquet room to be prepared. The red-haired manager was walking around the lobby holding up her personal cell phone and appeared to be recording members of our family. Multiple people witnessed this. When she was confronted, she acted confused and denied what we had all observed. Our family reunion included several young children, and seeing a manager apparently recording our family on a personal cell phone without our knowledge or permission was extremely disturbing. It made many of us feel unsafe, uncomfortable, and concerned about why we were being recorded. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were being watched and treated as though we were a problem simply for gathering with our family. My family chose this hotel because we wanted a welcoming place to gather and enjoy our reunion. Instead, many of us left feeling unwelcome and like we were a burden. While the property’s cleanliness deserves recognition, the customer service and management made what should have been a memorable family reunion into a disappointing experience. I hope Holiday Inn Express takes this feedback seriously, looks into the concerns we experienced, and provides additional customer service training to its management team so that future guests—especially families gathering for special occasions—are treated with the respect, professionalism, and hospitality they deserve.

  No working ev charging station. It's either turned off, or not yet ready to be used, not to mention the low charging speed. And I will point out those cars parked there aren't electric vehicles - like leaving your car parked at a gas station, you cause others can't get gas, are you right in your head?

  Friendly front office and staff. Clean room, excellent breakfast. Family friendly as the breakfast is served till 9:30 am.
